I think the police and the BJP state government say that these Muslim villagers are illegals from Bangladesh and they have occupied various lands in that area including one belonging to a Hindu temple hence the ferocity of the police and that journalist who did a long jump on the chest of the dead "occupier" Muslim villager.

Just check the number of Muslims killed in communal violence in India, it run into several lacs, and add to this the 1984 Sikh massacre(several thousand killed), Odissha Christain killings(more than 500 Christians killed) the Australian priest and son burnt alive there.

Yes Pakistan is not secular and at the same time it is not communal as well. Cite any media reports of 10 Hindus or Christians killed in Pakistan by a mob attack. There are literally hundreds upon hundreds of communal violence reports about India where the killings can be around 2000 Muslims(Gujarat) Nelie massacre again in thousands the numbers killed.

Journalist reporting the story getting involved in the events by jumping on the man's chest shows the culture there is incredibly bigoted. But the enraged guy who attacked police with intent to harm would have been shot anywhere in the world. He wouldn't even get that close to the police in America. Question is why was he enraged. Assamese Hindus particularly hate Bangladeshi Muslims. They have massacred thousands of Bangladeshi civilians before. This should be issue between Bangladesh and India to resolve. I have asked an Assamese Muslim 2-3 years ago if they are Bangladeshi illegal. He said Yes.
