Maurya is not called India, is it? Two, Maurya only lasted 130 years, is your history so short? What happened to the rest of the period? They were all different kingdoms with respective kings. You were never one country until British created you in 1947.

They called it Bharat too. Chankaya the teacher of Maurya, his idea was to unite entire India under one leadership and inspired Chandragupta.
