Good see India expanding it's business and trade with a rich powerful middle eastern country like Iran.


India and Iran can have massive two way trade. We can turn Iran into a powerful economic power by giving them access to our massive markets in return for their gas oil abd port access fir our ships

Central asian countries have good economic relations with Iran and there are no border issues like say killings in Ind-Pak or Pak-Iran borders.

You cite only the example of Tajikistan and its the only CA country language in the board.

Ever wondered why???? There are at least 1.2 million Tajiks living in Pakistan...Tajiks from Tajikistan have settled in Pakistan due to the economic conditions prevalent in their home country, many have settled in the northern city of Ishkuman...The country is nearest to 14 kms from Pakistan.

It is the only country yet because they are the one officially committed with having access to warm water through Pakistan

Yes tajikistan is poor but Turkmenistan is also a very small economy with only 5Million population and both countries are growing a healthy rate of more than 7%.

Also turkmenistan is the only country iran is having border with in the central asia india can have trade with.And the trade potential once again between india and turkmenistan will not more than 1Billion dollars in the decades to come.

Also uzbekistan had border problem with turkmenistan in the past.

Azerbaijaan has problem with iran itself.

So leaving only Afghanistan and Turkmenistan of potential trade india can have through chabahr.And you know the trade potential with both countries will take decades to reach 10Billion dollars.

Now for India through Pakistan it can have trade with Afghanistan much easily,it can get connected with central asian states with more potential such as uzbekistan(large population base) through Afghanistan via Pakistan.

Afghanistan 33% export is to Pakistan and 25% import from Pakistan,making pakistan the largest trade partner of Afghanistan and this is all set to remain so for the decades to come.

Imagine if pakistan does offer ormara to afghanistan for construction of a only Afghanistan port.

Let suppose even if 10-15% of china trade with gulf countries,iran,europe and africa happen through Gwadar,the output will be in excess of 100Billion dollars in the beginning

*Chabahar trade potential for india is not going to surpass 10Billion mark even by 2050

*Gwadar trade potential for paksitan will surely pass atleast 20Billion dollars mark by 2020

The Chinese are good business-men primarily.......never mind all the very poetic rhetoric about "higher than....., deeper than....., sweeter than..... friends". Even with that friend, China has been extremely focused, never losing sight of its own interests, never stepping into the 'manure' made by that friend. That has been remarkably consistent over nearly 5 decades. Something that some of our colleagues here consistently overlook or are blind to.
So while Gwadar is primarily China's show; by China, for China, of China........ China is very sanguine that option/plan can come unstuck, given that Pakistan has been remarkably consistent in failing to get its act together in so many matters. Therefore; Chinese being the supreme realists that they are.....have made counter investments too. After all, the Chinese want to make money in Afghanistan too as elsewhere in the world. In the words of Deng Xiao Peng , the Chinese do "not care what color a cat is, so long as it catches mice". They just carry no emotional baggage of 'ummah' etc and such-like. That kind of rhetoric is only used to 'string some guys along'.

With EU, Russia? Please look at map for once. There is a reason China is investing $40 billion Pak-China corridor (till 2018) compared to less then $1 billion India is investing total amount in Chabahar.
