Saudi Arabia and Iran are two separate lands and neither country had ever been colonised by a European colonial power and then artificially divided from each other like how Pakistan and India were. For Saudi Arabia it was actually the opposite because the British had helped to put it together by supporting one Arab clan against the others.

But you are right that cold-war like scenarios in the Middle East today between Saudi Arabia and the Islamic Republic are stupid. You are wrong. According to your logic Iran and Saudi Arabia should unify because both countries use the Arab writing system and both countries are Muslim. I live in an European country and most people don't know the difference between Arabs and Iranians. For them all the people of the Middle East are Arabs. Its merely their point of view. So its understandable that you don't see a difference between Indians and Pakistanis but there is a difference. The division of the Indian Subcontinent doesn't have anything to do with the British. The Republic of India was founded by the Indians when the Indian Kings of the Princely States decided to enter the Indian Union. And Pakistan was established because the people of Pakistan wanted a state of their own.

Thats just your perception and i respect that but there are a lot of major differences bw India and Pakistan.
Dont want to go into details.Bottomline is United India would have been too big,diverse and weak to ensure its sovereignity not to mention there would have been daily occurence of riots.
