Someone needs to De-Anglofy our Military communications. I do not understand why almost 100% memorabilia coming out of military branches is in English language.
Hi,

How do you think the pilots who went to get trained on the F-16's in early 80's learnt to fly and compete faster than the other nations at Hill AFB---.

Communication thru fluency in english---. It took an extra year for the South Koreans and Israeli pilots to take ESL classes---learn english and begin to operate the F16---.

Knowing more than one language makes you powerful---. Knowing lingua franca puts you into a leading position as compared to those who lag behind---.

Sir, rehne dn. All our equipment, tanks, missiles have desi names already.

BTW, I would assume it helps with co-ordination with other armies. English is the only worldwide language after all.

I faintly remember reading a long time ago that US and indian pilots had trouble co-ordinating in red flag or some exercise due to having different lingo or something.

Maybe @Windjammer can confirm.
They need to communicate with each other more often.

short answer, our Army , Airforce and our Navy's official language is english.
Gov's official language is supposed to be urdu.

Real Answer:
We train and create gentlemen, not momin, not Mujahids.

That is where the real problem is.

Can you translate that because I certainly cant.
I can. Just not worth the time. Especially since I've made the point I wanted to make. Which is that we should not look down upon urdu and be over-awed by english (which unfortunately many of us are). Urdu is as rich a language as any other. People tend to think that urdu can't be used because it lacks depth or vocabulary, even though that's not true. The problem is in people's mindset. That is what needs to be addressed.

Only if you can tell us what to call a drone in Urdu 😄
Oh that's easy. If you can first tell us what is a drone called in english? Or rather why is it called a drone?

If we'd invented the drone(remote controlled aircraft), we could call it whatever we want but if you are asking as an equivalent to drone, we'd call it a "Nar Makhi" نرمکّھی , (and i'd call an armed one a "bhoond"). :-)

If you think these names are funny or wierd then i'd invite you to read from the top again.

Hint: earliest remote controlled air craft were named as "bug", "bee", "wasp" etc. And what exactly do you think is a 'drone' anyway?

Such is language. So don't get over-awed by a foreign one.

Oh man, don't get me started. Colonial fauj hai, tau abhi bhi vohi dramay chal rahay hein.

PMA ja k forced angrezi. The vast majority speak it wrongly. But, hey, it's the language of our former occupiers so we must honor it! Just as we must keep many of their unit names, insignias, and trace our prestige to the British (imperial) army.

Logic goes to die in Pakistan.

Military orgs are branches of the Government of Pakistan. Their official language cannot be different than the official language of the state.
