What's new

Hindi speakers in USA is less than telugus, Punjabis, Bengalis and Tamils

So the Dravidian language family is created by European to oppressed India? If that is how you think, you are not in the right forum. We deal with facts in this forum, not propaganda.

Nobody "created" the "Dravidian" language family.

They merely classified it as per their prejudice

Ironically the term "Dravidian" itself comes from Sanskrit  That is the extend of their 'scholarship'.

Now stick to facts as to how the chinese script is a primitive heliography.

If you treat linguist as not legitimate and that all Indian language originated from Sanskrit. Then you are entitled to dwell 8n a well. But don’t argue for others to go in with you.

How do you know I am not Tamil ? :cheesy:

I know Tamil in real life. You are not a Tamil.

Linguists are legitimate as long as we accept that their study and classifications were done by NON NATIVES.

Its as Legitimate as the "Aryan invasion theory".

I know Tamil in real life. You are not a Tamil.

Appadiya. Enakku udhavi seivienkala? Nienga tamil pesuviengala? romba nallaa irukku.

utter nonsense

there are 2 theories on the origin of Dravida

1- Tharai idam - thravidam - dravida (Tharai (Tamil) land - idam (Tamil) - surrounded by sea), hence it refers to a region surrounded by sea (could also refer to Kumari Kandam)
or
2- from Thamila - to Dramila (Prakrit) to Dravida (Sanskrit). there are many words e.g pooja, deepa, arathi, deva, asura etc which originated from Tamil.
Tamil tha (த) is pronounced as 'dra' in the central Asian language -Sanskrit

Old Tamil words seen in Sanskrit

Its does not matter how you spin the world dravida and try to come up with new immaginative ways to suite your narrative.

The Fact remains that the word Dravida is first used in a Sanskrit writing.

If it was a tamil word, it would have been used in some Tamil poetry. Its as simple as that.

Besides I never said I am Tamil, only that I know tamil. :cheesy:

why must Tamil (sangam era) poets need to use Dravida an identity given to them by the Aryan Sanskrit Invaders ?
Indian or India was never used in Sanskrit literary works as it was a term given to people living in the sub continent by foreigners - now apply the same logic to Tamil

But Tamils HAVE proudly taken up the word "Dravida" , an identity given to them by the "Aryan Invader"

You are now proudly claiming that to be your Identity.

By your own admission "Dravida" is not used by any Tamil poets so its clearly not a tamil word.

But the word "Arya" does exist in Tamil, and the world "Ayya" is corruption of the word Arya. This is similar to the world "Ayya" which also exist in Pali and Prakrit and mean the same thing and is the corruption of the world "Arya".

India comes from "Indi" (Indika in Greek) which comes from "Hind". Hindu comes from the world Sindu mentioned in the Vedas.

In fact the Sindhu river is now called the Indus rive in pakistan.

So the world "India" does come from Sanskrit.

So you are wrong again.

Ayya in Tamil refers -to elder , Appa (father), Ayya plus Appa = Ayyappan,

Greek Indika has nothing to do with Tamils, Indians and Tamil are 2 different races, Tamils were referred as Dramiza by Greeks much before the Aryan Sanskrit Dravida

South India was known to the ancient Greek and Roman geographers as Damirica or Limurike. Periplus Maris Erithroei (Periplus of the Eritrean Sea) in the second or third century AD described the maritime route followed by Greek ships sailing to the South Indian ports: “Then follow Naoura and Tundis, the first marts of Limurike and after these Mouziris and Nelkunda, the seats of government.â€

Dramila, Dravida and Damirica indicated the territory. Then it was applied to the people living in the territory and the language they spoke, in the local parlance Tamil and Tamil Nadu or Tamilakam.

The Mediterraneans or Dravidians were associated with the ancient Sumerian civilizations of Mesopotamia and of Elam (southern Iran)

Pali and Prakrit has "Ayya puta" which comes from the sanskrit "Arya Putra" , so its pretty clear that the root is Sanskrit and not tamil.

Sanskrit "Arya Var" became "Ayyavaru" in Telugu.

Similarly Tamil "Iyer" a.k.a "Ayyer" comes from "Araya".

Same with Tami "Iyengar" which comes from "Ayyangar" (Arya-var in sanskrit) or "Ayyangaru" in telugu.

I will look into the Eritrean sea scrolls and comment on that later.
