France & Pakistan to revive JF-17 Avionics/EW/Missiles deal as Indian MMRCA stalls.

what makes you think they pulled out of the JF-17 deal due to Indian pressure ?
The word out is French wanted did not wanted to sell PAF because of Indian government lobbying which operates many french built Mirage 2000 aircrafts.

Indian government operates a fleet of 50+ Mirage-2000. The Mirage-2000 upgrade deal is $2.5 billion
Plus they do get some $$$ from the Su-30 MKI program. I doubt India alone could block the JF-17 deal.

The money india is paiyng is greater than what pakistan planned to pay.

This is a joke, right?

Either you are making this entire thing up or your "Highly placed industrial sources" are lying to you. The latest news regarding the Rafale deal have been positive, wait a few more weeks and your last hopes will be dashed and the deal will be signed.

Even IF the Rafale deal was stalled with India, the level of business India still does with France is many times greater than anything Pakistan can offer (A330 MRTTs, Ceasar MGS, LUHs, SSKs, radars etc etc). NO WAY would France put this at risk for some HMDS and EW sub-systems for the JF-17.

Sorry.
something is burning....

.
What do you people mean by it's not. What pakistan is planning to pay.

You can't dictate what you pay when you want something.

Lol lol lol

if money alone was the criteria France would not sell Agosta subs to Pakistan and Scorpene subs to India. India's scorpene deal is double or triple Pakistan's Agosta deal.

there is more stuff happening in the background that we are not privy to

.
Nope. Once bitten twice shy. It will be incredible of the Chinese to manage to hack the system again.

Pakistan returned back the heli wreckage cause it wasn't theirs to keep. LoL..Don't worry, Chinese have gotten all that can be found out in such a short time. From Pakistan. Yes sir !
NO sir its like a race...it is a war...cyber war....

and whatever we do...we are still Pakistani...and you are not gonna recognize any of our efforts

According to Britain’s Jane’s Defense weekly, China may get through Pakistan the the technology in Franch MICA air-to-air missile and RC-400 radar, which the EU bans sales to China. Such technology may constitute a threat to the Mirage 2000-5 fighter jets that Taiwan has got from France.
Pakistan is to get the above-mentioned missiles and radar from France for its JF-17 fighter jets. As JF-17 is jointly developed by Pakistan and China, when Pakistan has got the missile and radar, it is quite possible that China will get the technologies in the missile and radar.
MICA is as good as US advanced AMRAAM air-to-air missile. It is well-known for its accuracy and controllability. China may obtain its technology through reverse engineering from a MICA missile provided by Pakistan.

In developing its J-10 fighter jet, China has reference to the technologies in American F-16 fighter jet as it was able to study in details an F-16 provided by Pakistan.
To prevent China from obtaining French weapon technologies with similar approach, the US will strongly oppose French sales of the weapons to Pakistan. For the same reason India, a major buyer of French weapons, will also oppose.

To avoid such oppositions, MBDA spokesman denied what he previously told Associated Press about its competition with others to get an order for MICA. French defense ministry, however, told Associated Press, there were no reasons that France should not cooperate with Pakistan though it had not confirmed the existence of such transactions.

Why would now China want tech which is old for them too, they are building AESA radars and you think they will like to have a MSA radar which is old in its type too. As for MICA it don't offer much either as China has counterpart of US AMRAAM i.e. SD-10A & they are working on counterpart of Meteor i.e. PL-21.

34 pages and 609 posts but no link of any credible media outlet to prove that France is ready / willing to sell avionics for JF-17s again. @WebMaster @waz @Horus please close this thread as it don't have any credible prove that France will sell those weapons to Pakistan.

Although I will not want PAF to go that way now if they are offering old stuff previously agreed with them.

JF-17 block-3 may get RD-93MA with Chinese or may be western AESA, so no reason to go for outdated stuff.

For political reasons the Baltics will get F-16s from America.

Every European country has a budget to purchase 40 F-16s on concessional terms. 40 F-16s is approximately $1.5-2 billion. How much cheaper are you going to make the JF-17 ? Is it worth the headache ?

the only real market for the souped up JF-17 is large poor third world state - Pakistan. You can add Indonesia, Nigeria, Argentina, Bangladesh.
JF-17 will eventually turn into a more improved aircraft in future versions and we need to pursue that development path.

Yeah, I somehow doubt this entire article. Even if you were to believe that Pakistan would provide China with military tech from one of it's few European friendly nations, it's completely moronic to suggest that Pakistan provided the Chinese with F-16s for it's J-10. The J-10 is built on Israeli F-16 tech, Pakistan had nothing to do with it. I have no doubt that the USA has kept close eyes on Pakistan F-16s, and I'm sure they would have made had a public outcry if Pakistan provided the Chinese with F-16s. These actions would have led to suspension of military equipment and system transfer to Pakistan immediately.

I don't believe this article for a second.

Pakistan isn't a poor nation, it is middle income, stop perpetuating this myth.

Considering that the PAF has tested and considers the SD-10A as good as the AIM-120C.. I certainly doubt they need the MICA.
Perhaps for foreign sales? A larger repertoire of weaponry is an attractive feature. I mean, the PAF is already looking to develop a twin seat, only because foreign nations requested it, perhaps the same principle applies here as well?

I doubt it. They already have enough cues via the Russians on missile development. If anything, they would rather have the Meteor than the MICA. Such articles are written by people with clear bias based on vivid imagination. At no point did the Janes report mentioned anything of the sort.

True enough. I have my doubts as well, but I like playing the devil's advocate once in a while.

Pakistan should not rather must not opt for an French option.. no doubt that they are potent, time tested, reliable etc etc but other than the price and the threat of backing out at last minute we need to develop our own industry. chinese give us the option to assemble/manufacture KLJ in Pakistan. if they give us even 50% of an aesa work initially followed by more work we will be wayyyyyy better off.
We need to start somehwere and this seems to be a good aircraft to do so.... the same though can not be said about the power plant.
