What's new

France & Pakistan to revive JF-17 Avionics/EW/Missiles deal as Indian MMRCA stalls.

And yet after 25 years LCA is no where to be seen in IAF.
thats becuase kick backs hungry and corrput IAF TOP brass was happy with killing rookie pilots on Mig21 but rejected LCA causeit was 500 Kgs havier and tried every trick in the book even kept changing the goal posts for tejas+ owr very own corrupt UPA 1 & 2 wich did every thing to prolong and derail the LCA programm

do u know french at one time were agreeing to give whole production line with tooling and all of M2K to india but NDA lost in 2004 and then UPA rejected it butwere happy to shell owt 45millon for a upgrade which was not worth the buck ..... maal e muft dill e berehem

well french had always done that as they know USA tech isfar superior but comes with many strings attached just a riminder about so called 45 Millon $ M2K upgrade vis a versa the humble little LCA MK1

Tejas ($ 26 million) vs Upgraded mirage-2000 ($ 45 million) by award winning pilot of Indian Airforce Sqn. Leader (Retd.) Suneeth Krishna ........

1.Even if you spend hundred million dollars per plane the radar range of Mirage-2000 will always be smaller than Tejas mk1 due to bigger radome of Tejas .

2.The thrust to weight ratio of upgraded mirage-2000 will be lower than tejas mk1 (Higher is better) .

3. Both the Instantaneous turn Rate and Sustained Turn rate of 45 million dollar per plane upgraded mirage-2000 will be lower than the 26 million dollar per plane tejas.

4.The wing loading (fighter weight in KG/ wing area in sq meters) of upgraded mirage-2000 will be higher than tejas mk1 (low is good).
[With Above 3 quality Tejas will always have first look , first lock and capability to fire missile first on enemy aircraft ]

5.The frontal clean config RCS of upgraded mirage-2000 will be 3 times higher than tejas mk1, meaning mirage-2000 can be detected by enemy radar much farther away than tejas.

6.The longest range BVR missile to be fired by mirage-2000 will have way lesser range than the proposed Astra for tejas mk1.

7.The 45 million dollar per plane upgraded Mirage-2000 still wont be able to fire the deadly visually cued R-73 E HMDS enabled 90 deg high off bore missile, which was fired by 26 million dollar per plane tejas.

8. the 45 million dollar per plane upgraded Mirage-2000 still wont have an equal to DRFM based state of the art EW suit of tejas mk1.
How can you say above thing when Tejas still isn't in service?

Well, it's always been a question of quality vs quantity and history is witness to that. As for DSI, Alien, Indian or manmade, there must be a reason that likes of F-35 is incorporating this technology. Even with the DSI, we don't call our JF-17 as next generation...something we have been hearing for generations from our neighbour.

I disagree with your over-evaluation of TEJAS, Guru D but it was merely a joke there.
Check the smilies, man. So I do know India does not use that gen. crap terminology on average.

Keep calm and keep smilin' Tay.

I think that was sarcasm for some other member.

According to Britain’s Jane’s Defense weekly, China may get through Pakistan the the technology in Franch MICA air-to-air missile and RC-400 radar, which the EU bans sales to China. Such technology may constitute a threat to the Mirage 2000-5 fighter jets that Taiwan has got from France.
Pakistan is to get the above-mentioned missiles and radar from France for its JF-17 fighter jets. As JF-17 is jointly developed by Pakistan and China, when Pakistan has got the missile and radar, it is quite possible that China will get the technologies in the missile and radar.
MICA is as good as US advanced AMRAAM air-to-air missile. It is well-known for its accuracy and controllability. China may obtain its technology through reverse engineering from a MICA missile provided by Pakistan.

In developing its J-10 fighter jet, China has reference to the technologies in American F-16 fighter jet as it was able to study in details an F-16 provided by Pakistan.
To prevent China from obtaining French weapon technologies with similar approach, the US will strongly oppose French sales of the weapons to Pakistan. For the same reason India, a major buyer of French weapons, will also oppose.

To avoid such oppositions, MBDA spokesman denied what he previously told Associated Press about its competition with others to get an order for MICA. French defense ministry, however, told Associated Press, there were no reasons that France should not cooperate with Pakistan though it had not confirmed the existence of such transactions.
