Egypt's interim government stops issuing visa on arrival for Turkish citizens at airports.

Egypt's interim government has halted granting on arrival visas for Turkish nationals, officials with the Turkish Embassy in Cairo said on Sunday.

Turkey was one of nearly 50 countries whose nationals enjoyed on arrival visas at airports in Egypt, a procedure introduced during the term of toppled President Hosni Mubarak.

Turkish citizens at airports in Turkey and elsewhere were not allowed Sunday to board their Egypt-bound flights for lacking a proper documents for entry into Egypt.

The country's interim government has earlier banned on arrival visas for Syrian, Palestinian and Yemeni citizens.

Egypt tightens entry conditions for Turkish citizens

Egyptian authorities have decided to tighten the conditions of entry into the country for citizens of 50 countries, including the citizens of Turkey, Hurriyet newspaper reported on Monday, with reference to diplomatic sources.

According to the newspaper, earlier Turkish citizens were obtaining visa for entry into Egypt at the Egyptian border. Now, under the new rules an entry visa must be requested in advance.

After Mohamed Morsi's overthrow, the Egyptian authorities made the same decision in relation to the citizens of Syria, Palestine and Yemen.

There has been some tension in Turkish-Egyptian relations after Morsi's overthrow. Ankara called the events in Egypt a military coup and said that the new regime in Egypt is not legitimate.

No worry, with the current unstable situation, it might be temporary until solved.

I thought after Gul sent that letter relations would get better, but what a shame.

By the way when the article says entries were tightened for 50 countries, does it mean that visas on arrival were halted for them too?

Coold be but i want to see is what our ''precious'' governments reaction will be.

These are just precautionary steps in order to stop any foreign "undesirables" entering the country without extensive or adequate background checks like any other country does before issuing a visa. Turkish citizens may still apply for a visa to visit Egypt however Turkish citizens will no longer be allowed to purchase a visa upon arrival in Egypt by plane or at the nations borders. This is a result of the security situation Egypt is facing and not a response to Turkish government statements.

RTE is seeing him like a great man or someone important in world, too bad for him, Egypt said him "Please shut up, I can do some retaliations"

No alteration on visa application from Egypt

Ambassador of the Arab Republic of Egypt in Ankara refuted the claims in press and denied any alteration on visa which was given to Turkish citizens by the Arab Republic of Egypt
ANKARA (AA) - Ambassador of the Arab Republic of Egypt in Ankara, Abderahman Salah El-Din, declared that there was no alteration on visa application carried out for Turkish citizens by Egyptian officials.

In a statement released from Egypt's Embassy in Ankara, Salah El-Din strictly denied any alteration on visa which was given to Turkish citizens by the Arab Republic of Egypt.

The ambassador refuted the claims in press and stated, "It will be useful to remind that all sections have to get visa from Egypt's embassies or consulate generals except from the visas given by Egypt's Ambassador, Egypt's Diplomatic Mission and Embassies in Turkey or our other embassies around the world, or the visa types given to Turkish citizens at Egypt's ports and airports' gates."

In addition, it was recorded in the statement that the Ambassador Salah El-Din called on various press organs to publish news more carefully in order to protect the friendly relations between Egypt and Turkey.

Then why hasn't Egypt had the balls to stop other countries from getting visas on arrival? Obviously this is targeting Turkey.

Stupid people running your country man.
