No offensive, I read that the first satellite of Indian navigation system was planed to launch in 2009. Is there any update of this project?

I have some question
1. Are these GPS, Beidou, Galileo, GLONASS satellites geo stationary or polar satellites.
2. How many of them you need in the vicinity at a time for accurate measurement.
3. GPS uses 24 (without backup). Why China uses 35. Any idea about the number Galileo and GLONASS count.
4. Is GPS and others are compatible.

1. Beidou-2 navigation system includes 5 geostationary orbit satellites and 30 Medium and High Earth orbit satellites .
2. At least 4 satellites are needed
3. Maybe use the different algorithm, since satellite constellation of Beidou-2 is different from GPS
4. Beidou-2 system will be compatible with GPS in the future.

ISRO is not global positioning system, with 8 satellites ISRO can only cover india. And it is wasting of time to wait any update of their project. Their logic is "what china can do, they can plan better, but they dont care if they can make it become true after planning."
Their PM has eaten his words many times.

Yesterday,cctv news said,they would speed up the Compass(beidou2) networking system.

They will launch more than 10 Beidou satellites before 2012.

to 2020, will completed the global Compass system networking that need more than 30 satellites.

It can provide free position services of 10-miter accuracy for civilian users , and time service that's error donot exceed 10 nanoseconds. And it will provide
0.2 m / s speed service, and it will provide more precise service for paying customers.

Why limit ourselves to merely catching up? USA is USA. Learn from others but don't imitate for the sake of imitation. We need to walk our own paths, let's not be another A3, alright.

To achieve parity, you have to play 'catch up'. And imitation offers the quickest parity path. No process or procedure is perfect but the ones that works the best under certain environment should be closely examined as to why that process or procedure is superior to others. If this environment, social or technological, is similar to that one, then perhaps imitation is not such a bad idea.
