SYLHET, Feb 14 (UNB): Three Bangladesh nationals were wounded in an unprovoked fire incident by Indian Border Security Force (BSF) at Jaintapur border at about noon today.

Bullet-wounded Hill Resource (Alur Bagan) Manager Rashed Mia, truck worker Abdur Rahman and quarry worker Ambia Khatun were rushed to Osmany Medical College and Hospital and were admitted.

BDR retaliated and trading of gunfire with interruptions continued until the last report from the spot came at 4:30 pm. More than 200 gunshots were heard, villagers were fleeing homes from border area for safe shelters.

Confirming the incident BDR officials said that a group of BSF troops along with Indian Khasia tribal fishermen trespassed into Bibir Haor, about half a kilometre from the borderline, at about noon and started fishing in the haor.

On resistance by BDR of Jaintapur outpost, Indian border troops opened fire at them. BDR retaliated and trading of gunfire continued, with interruptions, until the last report came in at 4:30 pm.

Residents of Bibir Haor, Ghilatail, Phulbari, Kamlari, Guabari and Kendri Haor fled homes to safer places as the gunfire continued.

Earlier on February 4, BSF troops trespassed into Balair Haor and abducted BDR Nayek Mujibur of Tamabil border outpost that followed exchange of heavy gunfire. Mujibur was however, returned following a flag meeting between BDR and BSF at 8:00 pm on that day.

Three Bangladesh nationals wounded in BSF firing

You Believe it............:cheesy:
BSF went to fish...BDR challanged....BSF fired... all these half a kilometer inside BD ???
BDR don't spare their Army/Officers...how come they just resist BSF...:azn::undecided:
How come no BDR is injured if BSF fired at them......???

BSF is a lot professional and disciplined force that BDR, although it too has many scope of improvement.
You too shouldn't take BDR's statment & Harry Potter novels seriously.
I "think" there had been some skirmishes..but BSF may not be the lone to be blamed..

Send us a link from your local newspapers to prove your hypothesis that BSF did not enter BD land and steal fish with the Khasias. it was a case of pure intrusion and felony. It is obvious that since BDR was not ready to accept BSF picnicing inside BD, they fired upon them.

Your BSF is made up of some ragtag ill-disciplined troops. Many of them have been transferred from Jammu & Kashmir border, and their unruly behavior here proves how badly they behave in those Muslim majority area.

Your argument is laughable that since no BDR troops were injured, therefore, the news is distorted.

BSF, BDR exchange fire on Meghalaya border
GUWAHATI, Feb 14 – At a time when India and Bangladesh are working on improving bilateral ties, Bangladesh Rifles (BDR) personnel resorted to unprovoked firing on Border Security Force (BSF) posts and Indian villagers this morning. The BSF men also fired back in retaliation. However, there has been no report of any injury and the situation is now under control.
BSF sources said that the incident occurred around 11.30 am today when BDR men opened unprovoked firing on the villagers of Muktapur in Jayantia Hills of Meghalaya without any provocation. The area is under legal adverse possession of India between border pillars 1284/3-S and 1285/5-S and the villagers were fired at when they went fishing. The BSF men also fired back at the BDR.

Sources said that the BDR men also opened fire at the BSF posts at Nalijuri and Rongtila near the adverse possession area only to be fired back by the BSF personnel. However, no one was injured in the incident.

A flag meeting between the BSF and BDR was held later in the day to discuss the issue to defuse the tension and the situation in the area is now under control.

This was the second incident of unprovoked firing by the BDR in the Muktapur area within this month. Sources said that earlier on February 4, BDR personnel resorted to unprovoked firing in Muktapur and Nalijuri areas along the Indo-Bangla border. In that particular incident, the BSF also apprehended one Naik of the BDR who came inside Indian territory and he was later handed over to the BDR authorities following a flag meeting held to discuss the situation.

It may be mentioned here that the situation in some parts of the international border started deteriorating after Lt Col Zehirul Alam took over as the commanding officer of the 21 Co of the BDR , which has been entrusted with the responsibility of looking after the international border in East and West Khasi Hills and Jayantia Hills. Sources said that though there have been only two incidents of firing within this month, there have been a number of incidents of attempts by Bangladeshi nationals to infiltrate into India and the BSF is not receiving active cooperation from the BDR in the area. BSF sources said that the relation between BSF and BDR has been very cordial all along the international border barring the area covered by the 21 Co of the BDR.

But obviously Indian Media is corrupt and State Controlled and they are spreading India Propaganda.....

I think BD Forces should leave the border and stop patrolling and let India do what they want while they should sit in their homes.

But if BD Army cannot sit in their homes then go STOP THEM!!!

Ya BDR intruded India and fired back towrds BD border and injured 3 BD civilians if the BSF version is true.

Well your truth...and my truth....

You believe what your media said....but you don't want to believe my media....at the same time you want me to believe your media ..and reject India media....

Talk of Hipocracy..:bunny:

I just asked you to use Logic. Not to believe.
If BDR fired upon Indian civilians then there suppose to be Indian casualties not BD casualties. Am I wrong?

Do you think your BDR is all honest...and so called Doodh Ka Dhula...

Nope they are not. But they are not authorize to open fire on civilians. They will be tried for doing so.
BDR can be 100 times more vicous than BSF, and been proved before.

It's good to see Indians in denial mode.Something they suggest Pakistanis are always in.They come with very weird ideas like ISI spreading HIV in India etc but can't believe this news.

Can someone clarify what is meant by 'THE AREA IS IN LEGAL ADVERSE POSSESSION OF INDIA' as written in the Indian newspaper? To me it seems this area is under illegal possession of India, or is newly claimed by India and send its BSF troops to steal fish from that lake.

By reading reports from two sources, it seems that Indian Khasias came to steal fish in our lake with the direct assistance from BSF. But, when our villagers resisted the stealing, BSF troops fired upon them that injured three. In retaliation, our BDR counter-fired and the exchange of fire continued for some time.

Indian newspapers are blaming our new BDR commander for all these. Is it because he ordered his troops to resist Indian BSF's intrusion? But, BDR is there to resist all the Indian mis-adventures.
