Very sad news, this boy was only 17 years old. At that age one often dont understand the danger of life and consequence of things like crossing international border into India to bring back buffalo. Price of Buffalo is between 100.000 rps -400.000 rps i guess, thats handsome amount for many families. It was probably due to this he thought he would take a risk and turn back into Pak side of the border with his buffalo, but this event shows that one should let the animal go, and dont risk own life.

It is 17 years, not 17 months... many gun totting terrorists are from that age group (remember kasab aka amar singh).. it is up to parents and pak rangers to ensure they don't cross the border and if they do, follow the orders of Indian security forces..

Although you have the law on your side, but nothing stops you from be human. You had nice managed to catch him without shooting him. Think if this boy was your little brother or son?

I would recomend Pak goverment to fence ther side of the border so no unauthrize border crossing can take place.

Regarding the death of that trespasser, please note that borders are very sensitive these days. Both countries dont believe in each other. Both accuse each other of sending terrorist. So its unfortunate but a reality. You cant accuse BSF for killing trespassers.

And by the way it is our religion which may have you also follows not to kill innocent and please teach this to Indian forces who are responsible of this killing and many in Kashmir.

There is no way to tell that they didn't try capturing him. How does one know whether it is a civilian crossed over by mistake, a smuggler or a militant? civilians respond to warning and rest do not.. they can not let a person approach them anyways. So, if civilian gets panicked or doesn't hear/understand the warnings, his behaviour will exactly look like that of a terrorist. It is unfortunate, but the onus is on the civilian...

He was probably killed on the other side of the fence near the border.BSF doesn't have any checks and balances when it comes to killing people on the border.They have killed plenty of Bangladeshi's because of their trigger happy policy.Meanwhile they are unable to catch drug and arm's smugglers.

I'm sorry but shooting him? I take it most people have seen what shepherds in Punjab look like right? They are literally are wearing a shirt, shalwar/dhotti and and carry a stick. They could have just asked him what he was doing there or taken him in. This is disgraceful. Even BSF men have been sent back when they ended up across the border.
I maybe wrong but I can't remember the Rangers doing the same.

Well it does not happen often but 2 in 10 incidents do end in such result.

The boy is 17 meaning he was fully grown to height of a man , was running towards border after the buffalo. Remove the buffalo, you have 10 seconds to take a decision to shoot or get shot. Given the heightened vigil after recent infiltration attempts you cant blame the BSF. If the boy was standing still he would have had a chance but after running nope.

I bet even pakistan rangers would do the same , they wont sit there and evaluate in split second about dhotis, stick ...etc when you are running towards them. Lets be realistic and appreciate that men in uniform also do have responsibility of protecting themselves and the border.

One needs to be on toes when it comes to International border. Here is an excerpt from few years ago from Dawn news.

“They [army] would give us one gola (grenade) each and send us to throw them on the Indians,” Ali, a cook at Nadra, said. “The children were small and were hard to detect at night.
