PM urges navy to be alert

Chittagong, Dec 29 (bdnews24.com) Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has
urged the navy to remain alert and fend off any aggression on Bangladesh's waters.
"
The navy will be developed further to stop intrusion of foreign ships," said Hasina on Wednesday.
Sheikh Hasina also said the government is considering INCLUSION OF SUBMARINES.
The prime minister told a parade inspection, "The navy will be given state of the art training with modern equipment."
Hasina was addressing newly commissioned naval officers in the morning at the Bangladesh Naval Academy.
Later, prime minister also joined the commissioning of navy's new search and rescue vessel 'BNS Onushandhan'.
Two female officers and 32 other midshipmen received their commission at the passing out ceremony which also included four Palestinians.
The sword of honour, given for best all round performance, was awarded to Midshipman Nahiyan Baker Milky.
The navy chief, government officials, MPs and senior military officers and relatives of the new officers attended the ceremony.
