Bangladesh receives delivery of first regiment of Turkish TRG-300 MLRS

Buying from turkey is the best if any country military want to modernize not only their weapons are battle tested, high techs, NATO standard & most importantly cheaper than their competitors.

Bangladesh Navy should also check their Milgem frigate & the TFX when its available in the future.

.
A truly offensive system that can wipe out a lot of Indian military bases near BD and also destroy Calcutta port within minutes.

Hope this puts paid to anyone who thinks BD needs "permission" from India to buy anything for its military.

And folks this is how it becomes a troll thread when haters bring in India onto everything.

Dude, this system was brought in as deterrent against India.

It is pretty useless against Myanmar if look at a map.

If India does not attack BD or threaten it then nothing to worry about.

Chill as no BD’shi is interested in conflict with India but India now knows that BD has sharp teeth in self-defence.

Yep this is the first of many major weapons systems that BD will buy from Turkey this decade and next.

The Rohingya crisis of 2017 really shocked the establishment in BD and so there has been a higher emphasis on buying from friendly Muslim countries like Turkey.

Frigates is a possibility this decade as BN domestic naval programme has been delayed but TF-X has major issues in terms of systems integration and engine that need to become clearer before it is a serious prospect for BD

The words you used. As I said it reflects some people's inferiority complex that they have to be militarily compared to big nation to feel themselves good. India and BD have settled land and sea boundary issues even without these military acquisition under the same "Hindutva" govt.

When I initially read the news I really did not have any opinion and the second post. Gosh. Likeeise I can troll but I won't let you pull me to the mud.
Enjoy.

Bangladesh should reduce/ quit buying eastern made weapons & focus on getting & integrating western made weapons. Not only they are of higher quality but cheaper in the long run, transparent, & easy to maintain.

With Turkey as a major supplier you can expect Bangladesh to have the most technologically advanced armed forces in the region.

Well China is the best option in terms of building a military geared against India.

Turkey can only do so much and most probably cannot supply BD in the remote possibility of conflict with India.

BD has a unique problem in being sandwiched between India and Myanmar and so will have to source its weapons from multiple suppliers.

To reiterate what @UKBengali and others have said a billion times, our military posture is defensive in nature. If your country does not attack Bangladesh, you have nothing to worry about.
We have no beef with ordinary Indian people.
However IF India chooses to attack BD, we need to be able to disable your nearby military bases. This MLRS will certainly help in that regard.

The Turkish system in topic is itself Eastern(Chinese) in origin, apparently.

In 1997, an agreement was signed with CPMIEC (Chinese Precision Machinery Import and Export Company) for the joint development and manufacture of an offshoot of the WS-1 system. The Kasirga system was first commissioned in the year 2000.

I am wondering if he read all my posts as I declined(as if it is my call - lol ) a Pakistani poster's "offer" to form an alliance so BD and Pakistan can attack India from West and East?

BD and India have a common interest in having good relations and as long as India respects and does not threaten BD sovereignty then the two countries will of course remain on good terms.

With the way china is doing right now politically they're not really reliable as an ally especially when they managed to piss off half the world & have managed to build a coalition around them. China is looking a lot like a sinking a ship right now best not to drown with them. But with Turkey you can expect better deal from them like weapons to capacity building more than china can give. Especially after the VT-4 fiasco.

But I get it a full decoupling will be too much too soon. It's better if it done gradually while Bangladesh slowly buying & building up indigenous systems for her armed forces. Azerbaijan is a good template for BAF to start with.

Bangladesh's only major dispute with India is in relation to watersharing. If we can come up with some sort of solution in this regard, Bangladesh and India would have no reason to ever go to war.

Why was VT4 a fiasco?

Even that is nowhere near of a good reason to go to war to be honest.

The only possibility in the next 1-2 decades is if India tries to use BD territory and airspace to move its forces in the event of war with China.
