Bangladesh High Commissioner to India Mr. Tariq A. Karim paid courtesy visit to Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi today. In the
backdrop of cultural, economical and social parallels between Bangladesh and Gujarat the duo discussed about expanding and
strengthening relations between both the regions.

Expressing eagerness to develop long-term relationship with India Mr. Tariq Karim said, “Bangladesh holds possibilities of
development in cotton-textile, ship-building and ship-breaking industries. Gujarat too is leading in cotton-textile and ship-building.
And so both the regions can join hand for mutual benefits”.
The meet also discussed partnership for seaweed farming and growing
mangrove trees at the Gujarat coastlines.
The Chief Minister also extended invitation to Mr. Tariq Karim for the ‘Rannotsav’ a leading event in the tourism of Gujarat.
Principal Secretary to Chief Minister K. Kailasnathan was also present on the occasion.
High Commissioner of Bangladesh was on Gujarat visit to address a workshop on mangrove, organized by the state government run
body.

Bangladesh High Commissioner meets modi instead of manmohan singh, because he knows modi is the next PM.

Its because BJP going to oppose the land exchange deal which suppose to go to parliament next month.. Even our FM tried to convince those religious nutjobs that there is no Gita or Siv Lingam in those enclaves to be exchanged and nobody in those enclaves opted for Indian citizenship... :(

It's not that Modi is very popular among religious hardliners also. He means business....he destroyed 120 Hindu temples as they were obstructions for building a four-lane highway, and there is many other examples. Many Indians like him as he is probably the only politician in India who puts development over petty politics and religious sentiments. Many people have a much distorted idea about him because of politically motivated negative propaganda.
