Vietnam had just finished the war at that time, the number of soldiers and military equipment were many times higher than Thailand. In the current period, I think that Vietnam is just a little bit better than them.

Thailand's foreign policy is toward the strong nation. Japan during World War 2, USA during the 20th century and now China. Therefore, Thailand did not get major wars, resulting in its military forces being weaker than the size of the population and economy. The most typical is the failure in the conflict with Laos in 1988 and Cambodia in the recent dispute. Although they are both weaker than Thailand.
嗯,去年就改名字了,快两年没看到你在论坛上了。

The tank gun stabiliser was tested to the extreme by going bumpy road at speed of 40km/h while maintain precise gun position with a 30mm empty round shell place on tip of barrel.

Footage from a CCTV documentary about VT-5 tank.

On paper they still had a great number of assets not much worse than Vietnam, but Thailand had mixture of assets from many supplier and galvanized their logistick effort

I think Bangladesh can produce its own tanks. You only need to import German engines, German gearboxes, German tank guns, and US fire control systems... You can produce tanks like K2.

But a real question arises, what about your industrial integration capabilities? How is your metallurgical technology? And forging technology?

South Asia's most powerful nation in order to produce a reliable tanks, they spent 40 years. and you?

The tank is a weapon of war, not an exhibit. Chinese tanks have gone through many wars and undergo rigorous tests. This is different from K2 or "other exhibits".

Sorry forgive me I just live in the real world.

Well yes you do have good points but ZTZ-96 or 99 (even VT-5) has not seen real combat either. This is true for all new generation Chinese tanks. Some say K-2 is a down-sized Leopard (old generation) copy, but so is the M1A1 in many ways (except for the turbine engine of course). Today one can build tanks from sub-assemblies sourced from countries who have already invested substantially in heavy-duty steel-armor casting and forging capabilities.

Today - industrial integration is not a question of 'capability' but rather a question of needed investments. There are enough talented engineers in Bangladesh to pull off something like this. What is lacking is political will and what makes business sense.

A lot of people (even some idiot Indians) have the idea that Bangladesh is some industrial backwater like say Papua New Guinea or something. This is hardly the case. It is not my job to educate ignorant folks, Google is their friend and they can do their homework.

If we need just 50 tanks, assembly of imported components will be sufficient. Like I said - Egyptians are assembling M1A1's.

But expensive investments in,

a) metallurgical steel/alloy casting/testing and
b) heavy-duty forging capability (such as forging tank main guns)

can only be feasible when we are talking about having a long-term program of building an indigenous tank to one's own specs, compliant with local terrain and fighting conditions, and most importantly, when the number exceeds say more than 1000 tanks.

Thailand's armor and air-defense capabilities were sophisticated from very early days (Interwar years from late 30's), like Indonesia. They defeated French colonial forces when the French tried to annex part of Thailand.

Here are some early aircraft Hawks, Oscars, Nates, Hawk II's, Spitfire 16's, Fireflies, Bearcats etc. from early Thai AF inventory

@Bilal9 @UKBengali

How much Chinese VT 5 tanks price that is offered to Bangladesh ?

For comparison Indonesian Turkish Tiger/Kaplan tank is around 7 million dollar per tank. Indonesia sign contract for first batch of the tank around 135 million dollar for 18 tank. @Viet It is the price as you asked it sometime ago.

Not sure on the exact cost but a lot cheaper than 7 million US dollars per tank.

Price is not the issue but VT-5 beats Kaplan tank in the trial run. Be it armour or shooting accuracy on dirt terrain at high speed.

With substandard armour & powerpack it will cost between 3-4 million usd.

Tank gun caliber, armor, maneuverability. VT-5 is a light main battle tank. On plateaus, jungles, swamps. VT-5 can be immediately put into battle. and $ 7 million USD a Turkish tank? Where does your confidence and courage come from?:what:

Friend, the value of the tank is to win the war. Not the other stuff.

Chinese tanks participated in the war in the Middle East, Africa, and Southeast Asia. and you 7 million USD Turkish tank?

Chinese tanks have undergone rigorous testing. Can immediately enter the battle. and you 7 million USD Turkish tank?

ah, A Turkish tank worth $ 7 million.

With this logic, we can't compare our helicopters and any of our armored vehicles except tanks. As a result, Turkish products are used against 24/7 pkk - ypg-isid or esad. Yours, on the other hand, do nothing but pose for the Japanese Nikon Cameras on exercise.
