Argentina chooses second hand Kfir over JF-17, Gripen.

Argentina is cash strapped so the kfir is a stop gap measure for them. They could very well be interested in the JFT block 3 sometime in 2016 17

Sir
Is it fair to say that the dust has not settled on this issue? There is an interim plan and a long term plan to replace 36 fighters. Since they already have the M3/5s they might find Kfirs a cheap and easy induction in the short and medium term.

Nothing is final yet , time for Pakistan to sweeten the deal and make it hard to not to buy it..

I don't think Chinese pressure is the main reason , though UK can bargain with typhoon sale to Taiwan ..

Argentina can also buy Russian airplanes if it suits them..

If Argentina is not satisfied with the avionics then how good is JF-17???

JF-17 looses to Israel Aircraft Industries' Kfir Block 60 for Argentina's next-generation multirole fighter program

Argentina has decided not to purchase the FC-1 Xiaolong, a multirole fighter jointly developed by China and Pakistan also known as the JF-17 Thunder, reports the Shanghai-based Guancha Syndicate.

Argentina has opted for Israel Aircraft Industries' Kfir Block 60 as its next-generation multirole fighter. Though the Xiaolong's lower price had been attractive, China refused to provide anti-ship missiles under diplomatic pressure from the UK, according to the Moscow-based Military Parade.

The price of the Xiaolong would not have been too much of a bargain in the end, since Argentina had insisted that China install avionics and weapons systems purchased from Israel as part of the deal.

Israel Aircraft Industries has declined to comment.

It currently serves with the Israli Air Force in a ground attack role instead of aerial combat. Additionally, Argentina will be buying previously used planes.

Wow. China refused on our account? I hadn't expected this.

.
so the Kfir Blk 60 is just as good as JF-17 blk I?

and cheaper?

Secondhand Kfir (however improved, still 3rd gen) versus FC-1... quite I joke I guess while comparing the two. My guess is, China refused to provide Argentina with SD-10 and anti-shipping missiles, not due to any pressure from UK, for China cares least about that tiny island, but not to become a party in the conflict between Argentina and UK. Long -term national interests are always preferred over smaller gains such as selling a dozen or so fighter jet to a foreign customer. However those who find solace or comfort in this news can continue to enjoy.

Mr Argentina can't afford JF-17 that is why they are going for old Kfir. JF-17 is more advanced and avionics are dam good.

Kfirs fly away cost is 20 million .. JF-17 BLK II is over 30-35 million....

and cheaper?
