Any US MD practicisng in Pakistan/India?

Just wondering how much would a US MD make in Pakistan/India? I'm referring to a General Practitioner or Family Doctor.

Also, if one completes residency in the US, what are the requirements to practice in Pakistan?

I believe Pakistan and India grant the MBBS degree, how is it different than the MD degree besides MD degree being 4 years vs MBBS degree being 5 years? Is their residency placement in Pakistan?

Depends where in India. An average GP in Bombay takes home about 70-80k US$ a year.

That's pretty cheap since US Docs can take in on average $150K as General Practitioners. But I guess, it's a lot since you get paid in Rupees.

In USA you do your pre-medical studies in a College/University for 4 years Bachelors degree. You then proceed to medical school for another 4 years. That's 8 years. Then you complete your residency/training/internship at a hospital. That can be anywhere from 2 to 5 years. Finally, You have to pass your US medical licensing exams, all 3, to become a licensed MD.

In India/Pakistan, you do 5 years in medical school after high school, plus some more years of house job. So Becoming a doctor in Pakistan/India is faster as compared to USA. Salaries for MD largely depend on their specialty and experience.

You can practice in Pakistan if you get your license.....pass the exams and get the license.

Salary won't be as much as in USA, but if you get 5-10 years experience, you can start your own practice and earn much more!

A GP in Pakistan goes home hungry, everyone has access to a specialist and choose to skip visiting the GP.
A GP earns between US$ 200 to 4000 per month. The upper limit is rarely reached.

American doctors don't work in India because medical expenses are so cheap even in best hospitals of India. One of my friends visited dentist in US and he said that was damn expensive for there. I once went for tooth filling in one of the famous hospital chains, the dentist charged me Rs.500($10) per tooth.

I want to practice in America but at some point or another, I will have to go back to Pakistan anyways and practice there as well.

1.GP's just with a MBBS degree make around 25000-45000 per month i.e 1000 USD

2.MD's make around 100 K(2000 to 2500 USD) per month ..varies on the specialty and if you have private practice then even more .......
3. Super specialists aka Consultants make anywhere from 1.5 lakh and above ...I know People who are making 25-30 lakh per month but they are very experienced
4.I am not so sure about neurosurgery .its a six year post graduation course in India after finishing your MBBS..but they belong to a high income group with pays ranging from 10 lakh to 30 lakh per month ........

In US a average Internal medicine MD makes around 200-220k USD per annum depending upon where you practice .....
specialists(cardio -GI) make around 300-400 k per annum (median income) ... some make even more
there is more money in private practice than academic setting ...

Last year one of my close friend's cousin , she is a PGY4 in Neurology at Massachusetts General ..she was offered by 6 Lakh per month by a multispecialty Hospital Based in Noida ,incase she decides to come back .....

Wow US MD's get paid a lot.

But I suspect there is a lot to cover for overhead fees and malpractice insurance.

I don't think those types of fees are as common in pakistan/India.

Just in Ontario Canada, Doctors make total of 10 Billion Dollars annually.
I would imagine, it would be much much higher in U.S states...

MD you go for after completing your MBBS. MBBS is like bachelor's degree and MD is masters.

I have a few close family who are surgeons here in India, migrated from JHU to India!
Experienced neurosurgeons make a minimum of 200-250K USD p.a in India in good pvt. hospitals.
Those with little experience get around 30K USD p.a

GPs in Delhi with experience easily make 100K USD p.a

-50% of American Students don't get into their local Med schools. They can't apply unless they've completed a 3 or 4 year undergrad degree.

-85% of Canadian students don't get into their local Med Schools. They can't apply unless they've completed a 3 or 4 year undergrad degree.

There are 26,000 positions for residency in the U.S, of which less than 9,000 spots are taken from abroad, including for Canadians and Europeans (counted as International applicants). So in a nutshell, there is competition for everyone....

Note before you get enrolled for residency, you need to pass a lot of exams: ECFMG, USMLE Step 1, USMLE Step 2 CK, USMLE Step 2 CS.

Unfortunaltey as time passes by, competition increases... I heard the other day that some U.S officials are trying to pass a law to prohibit doctors coming from abroad. I think it is very unlikely that it will happen. Instead what you will see is less spots and more exams...

Canada is harder to gain medical school admission, America is much easier I've heard.
Canada is also harder to gain residency due to low spots unlike America.
Canada also does not like international graduates and favors it's own graduates heavily whereas America has a lot of residency spots for international graduates.

Australia looks like a good country to study? But they give the MBBS degree?

MD is a doctor of Medicine degree granted in America and Canada. It's equivalent to the MBBS degree granted in Pakistan/India.

Yes lol but I have to get in first, do well in medical school, and get into a Neurosurgery residency which is very difficult.

I also would rather get an MD degree than an MBBS degree.
