Bd bought two AgustaWestland 209 and two chinese harbin z-9 for navy .. . it indicates they will buy helo from europe if they buy any as china is not so advanced in it ! Bangladesh militry was never interested in indian toys... and never will be !

AH-1 SuperCobra is a good attack heli. And many variants to choose from. And has been in production for a very long time.

I think it will be good for BD military.

We really need a dedicated and an effective attack copter.

Chinese variants have its limitations, and I don't think we would get a great deal and most importantly at the right price.

For many more years we will have to depend upon combat troops in a war. So, its important that we build up our heli transport system to send men and guns, and heli gunships to fight the enemy troops. Helis can also be deployed against tanks. Instead of buying much more expensive combat planes now, BD military should buy more helis for use in short missions.

But Hellis can be Shot down by even a RPG. Our army cant fight with Hellis. Its not american army who are backed by hell of fire power and the opponent does not have a chance to fire back.

Yes, helis are not a permanent solution in place of planes. We certainly need planes on long term basis, but the Govt cannot spend much on it. In any case, helis are also a necessary tool to transport troops and guns to war zones, and heli gunships can fight as well.
