Azerbaijan’s T-72s to receive significant systems modernisation
Israel’s Elbit Systems will reportedly upgrade the Azerbaijani Army’s T-72 main battle tanks (MBTs). Earlier this month, Elbit Systems announced that it has been selected by an undisclosed Asian customer for a tank upgrade project. Yesterday, Rashad Suleymanov of the Azeri-Press Agency (APA) quoted military sources, reporting that the Israeli company and Azerbaijan’s Ministry of Defence Industry (MDI) had reached an agreement on the upgrade of the Army’s Russian-built MBTs.
The contract, which was announced by Elbit Systems on 4 October 2010, will provide Azerbaijan’s T-72s with state-of-the-art battle management systems as well as observation and surveillance systems. According to the Israeli company, the modernisation programme has a total value of $56 million and will be completed within two years. Neither Elbit Systems nor Azerbaijani officials provided further details on the contract, such as the number of tanks to be upgraded. Azerbaijan operates a fleet of some 180 T-72 main battle tanks, of which 62, reportedly, were purchased from Russia in 2009.
Come on man, you can do it...

i wonder how would be reaction of azerbaijani guys in here,in the case of and armenian company rewarded with something in the turkey ,like israeli firm rewarded the same kind ( think this in analogy )Brother, that upgrade is called the T-72 Aslan, and is the best upgrade done on T-72 tanks so far. I think they have upgraded around 90 of T-72s to Aslan standard. But, I think it is not related to what @Azeri440 meant
BTW, about number of T-72 tanks, We had around 300 T-72s after soviet collapsed, we lost around 150-200 in wars, and captured some others. We also bought more than 250 T-72s from ex-soviets, and now we should have around 400+ T-72s
As a summary, our tank fleet is really strong and its 2-3 times stronger than Armenia and Georgia combined and only Russia and Ukraine have stronger tank fleet than us among ex-soviet countries
