A cannibal act to strike terror

Bhubaneswar: In a bid to terrorise villagers last August, a Maoist killed a man suspecting him to be a police informer and ate his flesh in full view of the public in Malkangiri district of Orissa.

Superintendent of Police Satish Kumar Gajbhiye said the incident, which took place at Bandiguda, on August 14, 2007, came to light only on Sunday, during a community policing programme.

“The villagers told me that Bhagat, commander of the Paplur Dalam, killed Mukunda Madhi in public view and ate his flesh to terrorise others,” he told PTI on the phone.

Mukunda’s hapless family was among the onlookers, none of whom opened his mouth for fear of his life, Mr. Gajbhiye said. — PTI

Shocking really, the level of social degradation in these parts. The Taliban seems like heaven in comparison.

Would anyone believe that Orissa was once the home of the Kalingas, credited with taking Indian culture as far as Indonesia?

Are you sure this true?.......sounds like BS

Papular Dalam is a Naxalite organisation operating in the tribal belt of Orissa.

An extraordinary news.

It is hearsay as it appears in this report, but then, facts can be stranger than fiction!

The terrorist are now trying out oddest of ways to scare the locals, mainly tribal, who are very superstitious and believe in their own tribal gods and rituals.

They take a potent liquor called "majua" and after that anything can happen!

Dunno man, but thats what the villagers said. It depends on how truthful the villagers are.

It has come only on a few websites....but since its PTI so the report itself is credible.
