Bengaluru: The Bengaluru Police are on the lookout for a man who allegedly raped a teenage girl and confined her to a room for four days. The incident came to light when the 19-year-old girl managed to escape from the room and reported the incident to the police. The girl claimed that she was being held captive at a room near Yelahanka, northeast Bengaluru by an unidentified man. The girl told the police that she had been held captive at the unidentified location for four days.
The survivor hails from Bangladesh. The girl said that after escaping from the room, she approached a passerby and asked him about the police control room. It was after this that the Yelahanka police rescued the girl and took her to Kattigenahalli police station. The girl was brought to the police station on Wednesday.
The 19-year-old girl told the police that her parents work as daily wage workers in Bangladesh. The survivor told the police that she had come to India in search of work. She also told the police that she came to India in a boat and reached a railway station in West Bengal.
At the railway station, the teenager met a woman who offered to get her a job. The girl accompanied the woman to Bengaluru and the latter forcibly sent her to a room. The 19-year-old girl claimed that a man raped her inside the room and locked her there for four days.
A police official familiar with the case told The Times of India, "The suspect woman tried to convince the teenager to become a sex worker. She offered her Rs 60,000 per month if she agreed to attend to at least five men a day. The teenager got scared and managed to escape from the house on Wednesday morning. "
