PLAN develop ESSM: DK-10A anti-aircraft missile

China ever displayed domestic ESSM prototypes at 2012 China ZhuHai AirShow, DK-10 missile. It means Ground launched anti-aircraft missile. The DK-10 developed from PLAAF's PL-12 air-to-air anti-aircraft missile (Export version SD-10), DK-10 used PL-12's radar guide and control parts but lengthen missile body.DK-10 range from 30km to 50km. China Navy r developing VLS launched DK-10 missile, it will become PLAN's ESSM to anti-aircraft from 30-50km sky, fire range between Navy's HQ-9(>60km) and HQ-10(>10km) anti-aircraft missile.

What advantage does it have over HQ series on F-22P.

This looks like the US using AMRAAM specifically from ground vehicles...some are sold to Egypt.

It has longer range, cold launch VLS and SD-10A has its own guidence system. Its much more advanced the HQ7 systems. This can also be the answer for defending our machanized infantry.

Sure, provided it can be quadpacked into a single 8 cell VLU that can fit F22P (note: Mk41 comes in different length as well as single cell option. The shortest, tactical, vlu could well fit F22, it is also to be used on Turkish mod-ADA (Milgem) corvette. Not sure if this would apply also currently available Chinese vlu's). Russians offer similar solution using R-77.

The Sky Dragon air-defence system using SD-10A missile (Export version PL-12 missile), DK-10A also developed from PL-12 but missile body longer than SD-10A, update version further range. PLAN chose DK-10A missile as China ESSM project.

The DK-9 missile developed from PLAAF‘s PL-9D short range air-to-air missile. Yes DK-9 is land based air-defence missle (short range).

These are suitable for Gaza if you know what that is and I'm sure they'll pay cash for them.

If they work better than manpads I'm positive they will try acquiring some of these secretly. They can also test it's performance against American made jets.

Interesting work by China, they don't put so much emphasis just on Air Force capabilities and have everything spread across all sectors. It's neat.

DK-10 is another surface-to-air missile derived from PL-12 series, and it was first revealed to the public in 2012 at the 9th Zhuhai Airshow. DK-10 is derived from SD-10A, and the missile is lengthened with an additional booster stage, which has larger diameter than the original air-to-air missile. The developer has not revealed the exact weight of the DK-10, but many has postulated it would be somewhere around 350 kg. Specification:

• Length (m): 5.07
• Diameter (m): 0.203 for 1st stage, 0.26 for the 2nd stage
• Wingspan (m): 0.75 (0.66 when folded)
• Range (km): 50

DK-10A is a SAM system that utilizes the missile DK-10. DK-10A is also shown for the first time at the same 9th Zhuhai Airshow i 2012, along with DK-10. DK-10A consists of a launch vehicle, a radar vehicle and a command vehicle, which can be expanded to include more launchers and supply vehicle for reloads. The launch vehicle carries four launch tubes aligned in trapezoid arrangement, each carrying a single DK-10 missile. DK-10A can utilize other radars, and the entire system can be integrated into larger air defense network.

This range is unbelievable, though 1-50kms is a good coverage if the systems are data linked.
