China is likely experiencing 1 million Covid infections and 5,000 virus deaths every day as it grapples with what is expected to be the biggest outbreak the world has ever seen, according to a new analysis.

The situation could get even worse for the country of 1.4 billion people. This current wave may see the daily case rate rise to 3.7 million in January, according to Airfinity Ltd., a London-based research firm that focuses on predictive health analytics and has been tracking the pandemic since it first emerged. There’ll likely then be another surge of infections that will push the daily peak to 4.2 million in March, the group estimated.

Seems like there will be another wave
Will start wearing mask again in public. Have gotten 2 shots plus a booster dose still better to be safe than sorry.

Likely

Take with a pinch of salt.
How different can the virus be in China? People in the UK have now contracted it multiple times and been fine.

Suspiciously looks similar to US deaths. If China has 999,999 deaths, do we win? Lolol Come on Pfizer is 86% effective vs Sinopharm 80% in preventing deaths and hospitalizations. One is 130$,the other is 3$(20rmb). Any idiot can see the ROI.

Likely

Most colleagues of mine back to work after 3 days, i am still not infected despite not wearing mask and exposed to infected ppl, day 7 now. I am 3 dose sinopharm.

Omicron is far less virualent and its impact is far less that the alpha variant. Now is the time for China to get out of its virtual prison.

People are adults and if they have chosen to not vaccinate - then that is their personal "adult" decision and they must see through the consequences of their personal decision making...

Several to 10 million++ died in India - China's tally will be far far less..

You cannot escape this virus - it is here to stay - but i do think the Chinese goverment made a hash of its vaccine strategy ( should have gone for the astra-zeneca if they did not trust mRNA technology etc ). They may have found better uptake in its population if it was billed as a UK vaccine as they may have perceived it more trust worthy ??? I dont know - but i do know that chinese people dont trust the accuracy of medicine testing in china - must be some bad history there somewhere..

I have spoken with some Chinese people - and the low uptake of vaccines was due to the people not trusting the goverment and the quality of the vaccine/side effects.

Chinese dont trust British shits. British vaccines are no better than Chinese ones.

Everyone I know got infected including me and my parents in Beijing in December, none developed serious problems, have to say it's more powerful than common cold, but that's it, it comes and goes really fast. now I can safely say Beijing is about to have herd immunity in a week or two.

Didn't you say you think a very high percentage of people in Beijing already got it?

Omicron is very mild comparing to Indian Delta, lots of people are asymptomatic, China delayed the outbreak for 3 full years literally saved millions of lives.
