I’ve tested positive for covid but never had any of the symptoms- isolated for 10 days as was the protocol back then before it got reduced to 5 days.

People are mostly asymptomatic in south China too, but in Beijing most people are symptomatic, it's reported that BF.7 Omicron which is dominant in Beijing are more likely to develp symptoms and the weather in Beijing is very cold this time of the year, all viruses tend to be more active in cold temperature.

Yes that could very well be a factor. I visited china in 2005, never thought it would be that cold .
