A few of my ' favourite things' to do in Pakistan / India

Train travel gives the ' feel 'of the land.

My views ..

I completely agree with it :)

well its like you have metro and we have donkycart .

metro is not running in rural areas and Pakistan railway is not as bad as we think..its only those who are running this railway are stupid and lack management skills

A very nice thread.

One of my friend's family visited India last month and their few observations are as under:

1 - Delhi is just like Lahore except that it has a new and huge airport + a slightly better infrastructure which is a sign of India's growing economy. They were visiting India after a gap of 8 years and they felt that every thing in New Delhi had changed for good.

2 - They just loved the people of Amritsar and specially the salesmen.

3 - Generally commodities in India are touch expensive then Pakistan in dollar terms.

It may be a good idea to start tourism packages - the 6 night & 7 days type.

The travel agent / company organising the package could be made responsible for ensuring people in the group do not meander off and visit places duly cleared by authorities on both sides - along a pre defined circuit.

The group would use buses from the state tourism bureau only - and / or if need be local police could also travel with them for their personal safety and to ensure interaction with locals stays in a manner both countries want.

It could be a doorstep to doorstep type trip.

There would be takers for this on both sides I feel and would help to loosen up relations on both sides.

Well, If I were to visit India sometime I would:

1) Try and meet as many people as possible, make friends.
2) See Delhi, Amritsar, Agra, Kochin, Mumbai, Goa.
3) Visit IMA Dehradun and see how similar it is to PMA.
4) Try the real 'Bombay Biryani' to see if it tastes anything like we cook it.
5) Try to find my lost family in Nagpur.
6) Meet Katrina Kaif and Sonam Kapoor (Since we're all just wishing).
7) Play Holi (It looks a lot of fun).
8) Visit the Golden Temple.

Plus loads of other things that I can't remeber right now.....

I would love to drive down the coastal highway in Balochistan some day.

1.Will call my harmi friend in Lahore to pick me up.
2.Meet more people.
3.Visit FATA & Gun market.
4.Karachi street food.
5.Watch a bollywood movie with pakistani crowd.

Our family split up during partition and the part that remained in India settled down in Mumbai, their house was burnt down twice during communal riots and they moved to Nagpur in the 70s, have had no contact with them since.

Initially its ok, but it loses the taste of exploring and adventure. Its like a robotic action. One must explore things on its own, e.g. when i go to a new city i don't know where the roads go, so i start the journey and find new places and meet new people, i draw my own map of the city. When you make yourself lost somewhere, you find the essence of exploring.

You know mate i have read a lot of accounts of Indians visiting Pakistan but barely a couple of detailed accounts and impressions of Pakistani's who have visited India recently. Would you be able to find such or know such accounts?
