Xinjiang is likely another Bangladesh waiting to happen: Activist

Always admire indian confidence.
Yes, in China, poverty alleviation grabs national headline news everyday and is the most discussed issue in China, it's Xi jinpin's personal signature commitment to the Chinese nation. Indians never talk about poverty problems, it must be a super rich nation with zero poverty.

Xinjiang is likely another Bangladesh waiting to happen: Activist

ANI | Updated: Jul 25, 2020 10:36 IST

New Delhi [India], July 25 (ANI)

Xinjiang is likely another Bangladesh waiting to happen with a population that dreads Chinese Communist Party control and yearns for a stable democratic republic, according to activist Lily Harding.

In an opinion piece in The Kootneeti, Harding writes that Xinjiang also known as East Turkistan is strategically important to China's economic development goals, however, its people are of no use for its government.

"Like, true colonialists, China views this land and these people in economic terms only. Government officials targeted the most wealthy Uyghurs, putting them in camps, then appropriated their property and bank accounts. They even sought to make money off of the very bodies of these people by sex trafficking them, selling their hair to Americans, and marketing their organs to rich Saudis and organ tourists," says Harding.

She adds that East Turkistan is likely another Bangladesh waiting to happen, with a population that dreads CCP control, and yearns for a stable, democratic republic. "This would also give India a better neighbour than China," she adds.
Harding's comment is with reference to the BangladeshLiberation War which started in 1971.

The armed conflict broke out after the Pakistani Army began to commit the barbaric genocide on innocent Bengali population, particularly the minority Hindu population in then East Pakistan (Bangladesh).

The Uyghurs, a Turkic-speaking minority from Central Asia, are a distinct ethnic group from Han Chinese, with Urumqi being closer to Kabul than Beijing.
In 2009, the most infamous riots broke out in the streets of Urumqi, Xinjiang which pitted Uyghur Muslims against Han Chinese.

The activist says the CCP government has turned the entire region into a highly controlled, open-air prison after the Urumqi riots in 2009.

"Facial recognition cameras were put up every six to ten meters pointing in multiple directions. There was nowhere you could go in East Turkistan that was not monitored and recorded. Groups of police officers stood on the sidewalks and demanded that passersby give them their cell phones to scan," she writes.

Harding, who had lived in Xinjiang's Urumchi, before escaping the country, explains the tough control and restrictions imposed in the region in order to monitor the population.

"I was living in Urumchi, Xinjiang's capital where everyone was missing someone in their family. People whose families were not from Urumchi were missing at least half of their adult family members. Whole families had their homes demolished and then disappeared," she says.

She says she could save herself from police officers monitoring everybody by keeping her head down and staying low key.

"The police were everywhere. People were very frightened. If the police found something they didn't like on your phones such as religious apps or foreign apps or a VPN, they would go to your house a week or two later, and you would disappear. There was nowhere to hide. They spied using every form of technology they had. China used your phone's GPS to track you, all your apps, and they have thousands of employees that keep track of this information," Harding says.

The activists also speaks about her friend who disappeared in January 2018.

"She was Uyghur and openly a Christian. I have not seen or heard from her since, but I did receive word that she was released last fall, I now assume that she is in forced labour," the activist said.

Harding called upon the world to recognize their struggle for autonomy, human rights, equality, and independence and will help establish democracy in East Turkistan by diplomatically recognizing their in-exile government

"The people of East Turkistan wish to be able to live their lives in peace. Most of the world has turned their backs on them for the promise of Chinese money. We need to help them build a better future," she adds. (ANI)

Lol indian media.

If that is the case then india is another soviet union waiting to be happen or another balkan waiting to be happen.

. .
One of the most noble things a man can do in his lifetime is to serve the communist party

i'm not looking down on some backward countries.

I said: Xinjiang is at least 30 years more advanced than some backward countries. Any comments?
For years, I have seen Indian media say Pakistani Balochistan province is the next Bangladesh, its going to break away very soon with Indian support  after China humiliating them at Ladakh they are now saying Xinjiang is the next Bangladesh

.
The first question that came to mind when I read correspondent New Delhi was why is this in the Bangladeshi section. Now you could argue it says another Bangladesh waiting to happen but what some foreign activist said something while daydreaming should not be our concern. All these claims about CCP committed genocide on the Uyghurs can not be proven. Even if Chinese Govt. can censor things a kill-fest of that magnitude would leave direct and indirect evidences but as a matter of fact there is none. Also, people shout their lungs out about human rights violations in Xinjiang but where are the actual survey reports and research materials released by credible international institutions supporting those claims. There's always these news articles and propaganda videos stating this activist said that, that expert said this with no concrete evidence. Sure Chinese authorities can be really strict and sometimes over the top but that is to ensure national security like any country would want around the world. I don't see any human rights violations in that. But if you see then prove it because you are making the claims here and bring some evidence to the table.
Freaking ridiculous. It's like whatever Indian media or Western media says about China citing some activists or so called experts become the holy gospel. I mean try to do some reasoning on your own if you've got a brain and not just chirp what media wants you to believe!!!

indian occupied kashmir condition is much worst first it should be given independence from indian occupation before talking about chinese matters

.
What happens in Bangladesh actually?

I wonder if Bangladesh is in the process of social catastrophic because of overpopulation?

For a small tiny piece of land with a huge population.

Is there enough resources for everyone?

If what you claimed to be true, how can it be possible to have any economic development in Xinjiang region?? Common sense doesn't rein in some people's minds.

Indians are good at day dreaming .

They ( Indians ) forget about differences between Bangladesh and Xingjiang .
Few of them are
1 . East Pakistan (Bangladesh ) had no land border with current Pakistan , so was difficult to defend while in Xingjiang China has no such issue .
2 . East Pakistan ( Bangladesh ) had a very long land border with India, was difficult to control infiltrations while Xingjiang has a land border with strategic friend of China i.e Pakistan .
3 . They forget China is not Pakistan of 1971 or to be honest much much better than even today's Pakistan . China is very advanced and strong esp economically .
4 . They ( Indians ) forget about their Chicken neck i.e cutting or losing of 7 states .
5 . Pakistan was not atomic power in 1971 ( at the time of creation of Bangladesh ) . China u know ....
6 . They ( Indians ) forget about Khalistan and their IOJnK .
Etc etc ......
Let them day dreaming.

.
Today BD and Pakistan are friends which each other and allies of China, so Indians just created more enemies, lol.

Xinjiang is already close culturally to Pakistan, so I could see greater people to people contacts between Uyghurs and Pakistanis in the future.

It's actually a big complement, the development level of Xinjiang is decades ahead of all countries an regions in central and south Asia, it's indeed a role model for neigboring countries to emulate.

.
Bangladesh was separated from Pakistan by a continent and an ocean. Xinjiang is connected to continental China. Ridiculous comparison.
