Pakistani target always has been becoming better than india( does not matter if india is doing better or worse than pakistan). India's target has always been to achieve the set targets and then set new and higher targets to achieve. Well one more reason why india should compare to china and set china as the target.

In terms of agriculture, services, minerals, industry etc; Pakistan ranks very high up close to the top as well. And don't forget that Pakistan has 1/7th the population, & 1/5th the population of India.

The social comparison theory (Festinger, 1954) is the idea that there is a drive within individuals to look to outside images in order to evaluate their own opinions and abilities. These images may be a reference to physical reality or in comparison to other people. People look to the images portrayed by others to be obtainable and realistic, and subsequently, make comparisons among themselves, others and the idealized images.

India should set Benchmarks in places such as economy..say "We want to set a target that matches China".
However.. I would consider any Indian an idiot who thinks they are comparable to China.
Its apples and oranges.. two entirely different societies, cultures and mindset.
They will never follow similar tracks in performance.

I think you should look at the one liner flame baiting from the Indians here, using terms like 'failed nation' & other things. I reported those posts as well. As the Indians are not willing to contribute to this thread positively, I think it is time to close it. It has outlived its purpose.

Does not matter, both fruits are eaten by men even if they look, feel or taste different. Anyways, on the topic, our pace might be slower in comparison with china but we are moving in the right direction unlike staying stagnant.

There are several countries 5 times 10 times bigger than India, e.g. america, russia, china canada, brazil, but still india ranks 1st 2 or 3rd in many areas. So size alone does not matter.

You're forgetting the role population plays. India is the second largest country in the world by population.

.
India's long term prospects benefit from one advantage over China in that India is a democracy and China continues to tie down the potential of it's own people by hanging on to the lie that she is "communist". If China would have enacted democratic political reforms after the Tiananmen Square protests of 1989, she would be far, far, ahead of where she is now.

Population will help in certain aspects like pool of scientists,
but not in productions, agri or other industrial aspects

Besides population is the main reason we lag behind China in all the human development index ranking.
If India like China had stricter population rules one child policy,
india would definitely better indicators than they are today.
