Whitherwards Indian politics ?

Secularism Also means Coexisting by respecting others faith .. I have my friedns who are muslims and when we hang out together .. I make sure i dont order Pork and they dont order beef ..[/..

That is one thing if you respect for other religions in personal and when you respect that at State Level. At State Level if you are bent upon making laws preventing other faiths not to practic their beliefs then you are bound to make such laws to ban those things which are not allowed by other religions other than Hinduism.

how will you feel if Pork is served in a cafeteria ??

Christians and hindus have no problem with that but Muslims have .
so get mature ,,..
:) for your kidn information if Pork is served at a cafeteria we dont feel anything beacuse we dont have any concern if other people eat pork.

We Muslims dont eat Pork But we do not stop others from eating that Nor we have any law which bans slaughtering of pigs.

Muslims, Christians, Sikhs, and many others have no problem with Cow meat but Hindus rather its an esential part of food, so get mature ,,,,

. .
yaar u r trying to humiliate others by exemplify cow with those creatures. This is not fare to hit below the belt at least I dont do it.

:) pitty dear Flintock is comparing Cow with dogs and cats

If you are not allowed to go to your mandirs..wouldn't you be..????

You are not answering the question the question is

not allowing to cull the cow = muslim oppression/ attack on Muslim faith

First, dont try to play with the words.

Second, Muslim oppression-hmm, kinda. Attack..No. Moreover, its beyond your capabilities.

Third, game over. see ya soon...tata. i have others important things to do.

Chickens are more sweet than Cow why Hindus dont ban culling of Chickens then? What harm they have done to you ? :)

Cull means:

1. To pick out from others; select.
2. To gather; collect.
3. To remove rejected members or parts from (a herd, for example).

n.

Something picked out from others, especially something rejected because of inferior quality.

They are culled when there is bird flu epidemic.

Since you don't want them culled, it could always be sent to you so that you can have a whale of a time with bird flu since you seem to enjoy in it!! ;) :)

Jana,

I find that you are a trifle jealous that India is a secular country since you repeatedly refer to it as if you are having a severe bout of an itch!

In some Islamic countries pork is not sold, slaughtered or culled (pick any of your choice;) )

So?

ome Muslim workers at Target refuse to handle pork
Submitted by Chris Serres, Star Tribune Staff Writer on Mon, 03/12/2007 - 5:21pm.

How would you feel if a cashier made you swipe your own groceries because of his/her religious beliefs?

I'm a reporter who covers Target for the Star Tribune and the other day, I got a call from someone who said that an employee at the Target store downtown refused to run his bacon through a scanning machine. He was mighty upset, arguing that the cashier had "no right to work as a cashier at Target" if she wasn't prepared to swipe his groceries.

But he was a little vague on the details, so I decided to check it out myself. At the Target store on E. Lake Street, a cashier wearing a hijab looked uncomfortable when I showed up at the cash register with a frozen pepperoni pizza. She immediately called for help, and another employee rang up the pizza and placed it in the basket.

I asked her if it was because she was Muslim, and she nodded her head. "I can't even touch it," she said.

The E. Lake store has only has a few aisles of food. How do Muslim workers adapt in Super Targets where there are full-fledged grocery sections? And is anyone other than this caller bothered by this? Are there some Muslim workers at Target who feel they have to suppress their beliefs to avoid conflicts?

Editor's note: A story about this issue appeared in Wednesday's Star Tribune.

Star Tribune is from Lebanon.

Is the worker justified? It is upto the sensitivity of each.

Dalits are hindus by birth .And have every right to chage religion if they want.U will find some christans even muslims who are considered Dalits who get reservation in jobs & admissions in educational institutes.

Its complicated. The caste system is bad, but converting to Christianity or Islam can often be worse.
We don't want to step from the frying pan into the fire, now do we?

It is a State subject.

Come to my State and have as much of beef you want including beef on hoof!!

We have not had the Mad Cow disease as yet to do what seems to excite you - cull and culling! ;)

But go to Park Circus Market (Islamic faith adherents are there in the locality), even the Hindu or the Christian shopkeepers won't stock pork or pork products in respect for the Islamic people!

I agree that it is stupid for after all why should others suffer because of a community's religious sensitivity!

So, that is secularism for you!

The way India overdoes this secularism, we will soon have the Sharia and the Blasphemy law along with the Huddood. That would be real secular! :)
