I am not posting some anit-bangladeshi propaganda. Just asking you a question what you are doing to achieve your ultimate goal of Golden Bangladesh. You should have courage to listen the truth as my opinion is based on facts. I wish you all the best for achieveing the goal but i was just trying to ask what you are doing for achieveing that goal???

May Bangladesh prosper and become better day by day. Its's my sincere wish.

Wow.....hats off to you!!

You just put on a comparison between a country which was totally devastated by war and started off with only $34 as its foreign reserve. It had to start from scratch. On the other hand, Pakistan even at that time was a regional power.

Judging the situation, I will say that my country is doing very good alhamdulillah.

Now I hope MODs will look into this kind of rubbish thread and delete it.

. .
Pakistan was not regional power at that time atleast after such a devastating war.

But Pakistan didn't have to start all over again,at least in terms of infrastructure and industry. On the other hand,it was anarchy in Bangladesh after the war.Industries, infrastructures destroyed.
So you can't compare the two nations.

As for how Bangladesh is going, barring the politics,Bangladesh is going very well and in the right track.Only if they could get some help from our fat bellied politicians, our growth would have been faster.

Just look at the figure you posted:

Pakistan's Exports
$18.33 billion (2009 est.)
Bangladesh's Exports
$15.07 billion (2009 est.)

Bangladesh being smaller in size, still managed to export on par with Pakistan.

Dear brother,

Yes we are far from becoming a Sonar Bangla. The number you put up there from CIA facts book may not give you the real picture. Also the definition of those numbers vary significantly for Pakistan and Bangladesh.

For instance you used PPP but you failed to recognize that we revised our PPP factors in 2005 which you are still using 1947 factoring.

YOu also failed to recognize that you rebased your economy in 2005 and last time we did is 15 years back. We will be doing it next year when you will get a real picture of BD economy and I am expecting it should be at least 40% more than what you see in CIA facts book

Now whatever we gained in the last 40 years is done solely by us. When you kept all the asset of pre 1971 and let us to pay half of your external debt which were spent in West Pakistan, which was not easy for a country destroyed by war and we lost a decade or two in the process while paying back your debt. Yet we survived and now shooting forward. Just see our import and export figures of this year. We will be exporting more than PK this year and import at least 30% less than PK. These are generated from a country which is 1/5th the size of Pakistan. Dont you think its a huge achievement?

Its not only the economic factor but certainly one of them for which BD was liberated. It was wide spread discrimination, lack of transperency in the central government and absense of and political say in the whole affairs of Pakistan which forced BD ask for independence.

Actually I always like Bengali culture and at least that their poems. Even I could not remember how much time I have devoted to just listen Amar Shonar Bangla. This is pure land of gold and one day this ppl will achieve it surely.

Moreover, comparison is not good. I think Bangladesh would over take Pakistan within next 5 years unless Pakistan win war against Talibanis very quickly.

Best of luck to both. Long way to go.

Ok i get your point. I was certainly unaware of these facts. You open my eyes. Go forward you have a long way to go and hope best for us as well.

Why did Bangladesh agree to pay the debt? After all, East Pakistan was economically being strangled by West Pakistan for 25 years. So West Pakistan should have been solely responsible for the debt.

Another point to note in Pak-BD comparisons is that Pakistan has continuously been getting aid from the USA, Saudi, China etc, while BD has had no such luxury.

Simply there is a long way to go. Electricity production is the major impediment to growth. Infrastructure is very poor comparing to Pakistan. Corruption, not sure where it is worse. What we need is good governance.

There are a lot infrastructural project under construction and many in plans. Assuming the projects are completed in due times (highly doubt that) , we should see a bigger growth rate in next two to four years.

Sonar Bangla ? Not sure when. Don't have a track record to guesstimate. If there is one, I am not aware of it.

i think this is highly objectionable thread. how will pakistanis feel if same is said abt indo-pak partition.

There is simply no excuse for the lack of good governance. Pakistan kept the assets but shared the debts is about 35 years old. I know it was a drag on the economy, but the real drag was and is "lack of good governance."

.
I dont know about these "Facts" but certainly the economic situation of Bangladesh should be on par with Pakistan at this very moment.

I don't think so. It appears as a pi**ing contest, but not a bad idea to see where we are at after about four decades.

i think this is the right time or i should say era for bangladesh to gain momentum & go above pak or atleast at par with it, bcoz pak is busy at other end right now.
