What do Indians think of Timurlane?

Timur is a tyrant to be clubbed with Hitler. He slaughtered more than 100,000 non-muslims in a few days. One can deny that he committed the crime(as the history may not be well documented then) but it would be really despicable if someone tries to justify his actions.

well, history is replete with such examples of killings and crime. there is no one people who can truly claim to be sole victors of civilizaion. its all a cycle. right now the western world has been on the pinnacle for around 400 years or so. history has a funny way of being cyclical.
the native americans aborigines and maoris were completely wiped out. smilarly who knows how many civilzation were made extinct. thats why the abrahamic relgiions are barbaric, because they dont want to coexist with others but want to supplant everything in their own model. like imagine in the world if the only food available was mc donlads, what a boring and unhealthu pleace it would be.
anyways, history is what it is. right now islam is at the receiving end. they are literally subservient to the western world. the only identitiy of muslimes is that they are terorists and should be eliminated, that islm is an evil relion and they are squatting on the west's oil.

I was raised in a part of North Nazimabad, Karachi called 'Taimurya'--after 'Taimur Lang' or 'Timerlane'.
Indeed, Taimur is a hero to Pakistanis--enough to name neighborhoods to him even in the most secular country of Pakistan. And that has to do everything with contra-distinction with Indians/Hindus. Those are facts. Human facts. Nothing to do with being Muslism or Hindus or Martians.
Indians--especially Hindu Indians--have to hate Taimur. Pakistanis are not fan of 'Chengez Khan' because his off-springs sacked Baghdad (though some people still have 'Chengez' as the name--and there are plenty of 'Khans'--the most 'Khan' country in the world!)

Indeed, the Hindus in historic India were a subjugated people for centuries. That Pakistanis take pride in that subjugation has to do with the very basic of the reason for the foundation of Pakistan; but that is a psychology of fear. It is for the Indians to reach out and be the large hearted big brother. Then Timerlane or Mehmud Ghazni would be just historic figures. Not much different from, even, the Hindu protoganists from eons ago: Powerful men who went on a rampage on shady grounds.

but why are pakistanis proud. they are just by products of the victory of the barbaric invaders of india to put it very decently? and why should pakistanis feel angry about sack of baghdad, at that time "paksitanis" must have been hindus in majority.

.
Indians need be asked only one question, one question only:

Why is it that the British mother tongue is the official tongue of India?

A 2nd question that derives from the 1st is this:what's India's NATIONAL language?

I thought I had already alluded to that in my post above?
Here is again:

Pakistanis of all stripes will posit that the 'Two Nation Theory' was fundamentally a rejection of dominance of a Hindu India. A Muslim Tamerlane crushed the Hindus and he is a hero to Pakistanis.

English is what tie the whole nation of India together. Without English, India would not be what it is today. Indians are proud of this English heritage as they are proud of serving their British master's during WWII as evident by a recent thread.

its a legacy that has been around since they left. india if you ma know was a collection of scores of region united by various factors. for various reasons many of the ancient wisdom has been lost forever (and that is general humanities loss). we always adopt and assimilate anything that is brought into the country, eg Urdu is widely spoken in india and so is english. english is a universal language today so we have it as an official language like for eg singapore.
Hindi is supposed to be indias national language but not everyone knows it . i guess even in china not every one knows mandarin? hope this answers your one quesiton only

so anyone who 'crushed' hindu india is a hero? ok, do you realise that most of you guys are the byproduct of that barbaric period?

India using english as an important language is just out of practicality. even the Euro is using english for most purposes.
we use buildings that have been left built by british. even you guys have several building built during british times that you use. infact you have a whole country (HK) which is british in character. similarly we consider english as an infrastructrure that we have and that we can use to our advantage when dealing with outside world.

Timurlane is ideal for Pakistanis. It wouldn't come as surprise if Pakistanis name their next Chinese imported missile Timur.

Go to Kerala and try to get around with English only. Have fun.
