The deal was being financed using FMF. The moment that went out, the AH-1Z deal was iffy. To Pakistan's credit, there does seem to be an aversion to paying for US equipment with national funds, e.g. the PAF walked away from the 8 F-16s in 2016 when FMF was blocked, the PA tied the AH-1Z to FMF, etc.

If you dig deeper into history---you would find that it was during the 1965 war---that had some real issues created by the pakistani generals---.

In 1971---it was obvious from day one---we had an alcoholic as a CinC and similar general staff under him---.

Paf's generals arrogance was sky high as well.
