The reason it took russians so long was the huge amount of detoreation in the ship; it was just left like a used toy on the severdonsk docks...
Also political and economical hurdles came in the way...many people in India were initially sceptical, just like you, that could even russia manage to refurbish a ship , which has faced such a level of degradation?...
But Russia did manage to do it. Russian Shipbuilding faced a collapse after SU's fall but it still exports many warships....

That's wrong, because it's still the same design and techs, just bigger. The sucessor generation would have been the Ulyanovsk carrier design.

BTW I'd be really happy if MDL could show us the pic of Vikrant II carrier as well. If we're to get it by next year end for sea trials, it means a lot of heavy work is done already. A "leaked" pic would certainly send the signals.

It still doesn't have aircraft launching and recovering capabilities let alone comparing with the best... what airdefence mechanism does it have, SAMs.. what cruise missile it houses(since it is of Russian design made by Russians).. what radar ?

USSR has left all of its aircraft carrier assets in Ukraine, this is a fact.

There is no chance that Russia has the same shipbuilding capability compared to USSR.

We don't even need to challenge Russia, they are already far behind us in the overall shipbuilding capability.
