Also, the correct way to go about this would to measure it by GDP PPP, not nominal. I believe South Africa has just slightly more GDP PPP than Pakistan.
If Pakistan is the 45th biggest economy, that means there are 44 countries with more economic clout than Pakistan. And I bet those countries are a lot more stable as well.
If Pakistan joins the G20 the whole organization would lose its credibility and become even more useless than it is now.
Just an observation here. Pakistanis must get out of this habit of using PPP when it suits them, and nominal values when it suits them. India is the 4th largest economy in the world then, but no Pakistani will agree to compare by PPP when the discussion veers in that direction.
And coming to your actual point, you are totally wrong. GDP PPP is a useful mechanism only to compute standards of living and population below poverty line, and such things. When it comes to comparisons with other countries, economic clout, and other things, GDP nominal is the only sensible thing to look at, GDP PPP makes absolutely no sense there. So Pakistan is 46th, India is 10th.
Might as well have Somalia, Guinea, Mali, Chad, Nigeria, Sierra Leone part of the G20 as well, I've heard they'll each become Regional/Global Powers within the next couple of years..

^^ If US wants Pakistan in G20..How does it matter to India? I would think the other 25 countries before Pakistan might have a beef with it, but not India. Lets see if it passes through..
Also some of the Pakistanis are wrong here... Its not US who is asking for it.. but a panel suggested it..thats all...
Why would other 25 countries have a beef with Pakistan joining the organization? Care to explain?
