US panel calls for Pakistan membership of G-20

Why not? Russia was able to become one of the 'G-8' when its GDP was 1/50 of the US', why can't Pakistan become one of the 'G-20'?

Why are the Indians on fire if Pakistan is going to join the G-20. It is not that we are kicking India out. Stop vinning and go eat your veggies.

I never said it discusses political issues, however joining a forum such as the G-20 and specially if powers like US and China back you, why wouldn't we get a membership. Observer status or not is mere speculation.....after all we can all agree to disagree.

P.S there is no such thing as obvious.

I don't think any of G20 countries would have any objections..but bypassing 25 other countries to accommodate you wouldn't go down well with them..

why are indians so obsessed with us?? If those 25 object what has that got to do with india. Worry about your own people, Man!! just learned that indian govt defines poverty as some one who lives on less than 12 rupees a day. That is scandalous, and indians should be outraged about that not if Pakistan becomes a members of the G20.:woot:

At what point did Pakistan became super power? At what point did Pakistan win World war 2?

At what point did brazil do any of the above..
Your initial point was sufficient..
Pakistan does not qualify for G-20 simply because its economy is in shambles..
Here's the Indians fav..wiki..
"In a forum such as the G-20, it is particularly important for the number of countries involved to be restricted and fixed to ensure the effectiveness and continuity of its activity. There are no formal criteria for G-20 membership and the composition of the group has remained unchanged since it was established. In view of the objectives of the G-20, it was considered important that countries and regions of systemic significance for the international financial system be included. Aspects such as geographical balance and population representation also played a major part."
Pakistan may however..be a G-20 Invitee
And should look more towards this organization

Singapore and 27 other non-G20 nations have formed informal coalition known as the Global Governance Group or “3G”. Established at the United Nations Headquarters in New York, the group was formed as a means for small and medium UN member states to discuss matters regarding global governance and channel their views into the G20 process.

The member states include:
• Six from Southeast Asia and the Asia-Pacific (Singapore, Malaysia, Brunei, the Philippines, New Zealand and Vietnam)
• Three from the Middle East (Bahrain, Qatar and the United Arab Emirates),
• Three from Africa (Rwanda, Senegal and Botswana)
• Eight from Europe (Sweden, Belgium, Ireland, Luxembourg, Switzerland, Liechtenstein, Monaco and San Marino)
• Two from South America (Uruguay and Chile)
• Six from Latin America and the Caribbean (Costa Rica, Guatemala, Panama, Jamaica, Barbados and Bahamas).

i don't see any reason for Indian's to comment on this topic. Pakistan inclusion/exclusion in G-20 has no bearings whatsoever for India...So in case i am missing something big can someone please tell what the fuss about???

Sir, I didn't reply to dish out anti-pakistan vitriolic.. but an answer to someone comparing russia's status in G20..

Why should Pakistan not have a seat on the G-20..she deserves it more than Saudi Arabia on the list. Other than the price of oil which is determined by the OPEC cartel what exactly can SA bring to the table?
