BNP is not pro-bangladeshi. BNP and BAL just want to stay in power, they dont love BD. We need changes, thats why I support JP.

Good, JP and Ershad is supplying drinking water to HeI activists, that is a good step, so far so good. They are with people so far. Hopefully they will leave AL alliance and join BNP alliance when the time becomes favorable.

All parties are now corrupt, but BNP led alliance is at least fighting to resist a dictatorial fascist regime and trying to bring back democracy. I consider that a valuable fight for bringing back democracy in Bangladesh, do you? Your Ershad seem to support this fight, he is supplying thanda pani at least, even though he is still officially in AL led alliance, may be to avoid jail time and more cases to be filed against him.

BNP trying to bringing back democracy in Bangladesh by doing strick? They dont joined parliament and fight there, if they loved BD, they must joined perliament and do fight there too. They just hurting our economy, making general public angry and losing support. BNP is same as BAL, just want power.

JP is much better then BNP and BAL.

You have posted a very informative link on the subject of why USA needs to engage with Bangladesh. However, BD may not give a right to build and operate a military airfield in the St. Martin island and other related facilities so soon by the USA. However, US political and military teams are frequenting the country too often.

The good point of the article is its assessment that the purpose of US presence in the BoB is not only to watch over China's naval build up in this sea, but also to keep track of Indian naval activities here, too. Yes, it seems BD needs Uncle Sam's umbrella so as not to get involved with the regional as well as big power games in the BoB. However, the big game is already in the Bay. We will see how Bd can tactfully handle the situation.

BD should be wary of getting too close to the US and should never give a naval base.

This part (unlike other media brainfarts) makes sense:
The US strategy is plain and simple: it too, like China, has an overriding need to monitor India’s sea-based nuclear weapons-related developments, and what better than to do this under the guise of conducting perfectly legal offshore oil/gas exploration activities within Bangladesh’s EEZ. After all, all that the US will be required to deploy will be a fleet of no more than three non-militarised ocean surveillance vessels and two EP-3-type airborne ELINT aircraft, for which all that the US will require will be a ‘civilian’ shore-based logistics station that includes a runway, all of which can be built within a short span of time at Bangladesh’s St Martin’s Island. For tracking the sea-trials of India’s SSBNs and SSNs, both the US Navy and the Royal Navy will be able to deploy on short notice their SSNs from their bases in Diego Garcia, located 1,200 nautical miles (2,200km) south of the southern tip of India, and from The Maldives’ Gan Island.

Just for everyone to know. USA's foothold in South Asia is very weak compared to the Middle East and East Asia. Especially after the 71' War.

The Americans are increasingly disillusioned over Pakistan. So they are engaging with both India and Bangladesh over how to gain a foothold over here. India will only carry out its regional affairs on its own terms, and no one else's; this is a fact which everyone here agrees. And the Americans know it.

So it is plausible that they may try to use St. Martin island for such covert intelligence gathering operations. But certainly no base for the entire 7th Fleet (LMAO).
