UN Security Council to meet after Turkey strikes against Kurds in Syria

It's not about China, maybe Pakistan will be the only country openly supporting Turkey.
It's awkward both for Turkey and Pakistan.
what about Azerbaijan??

True, Turkey doesn't have many friends , even in its immediate neighborhood.

Cyprus, Greece, Egypt Tell Turkey to Back Off Cyprus Drilling

Teaming up to protect their energy plans, Cyprus, Greece and Egypt said Turkey – which has already ignored them and everyone else – should “end its provocative actions” in the Eastern Mediterranean Sea, including exploring for oil in Cyprus’ territorial waters, which they called “a breach of international law”.

That came the same time Turkey said it sent a drilling ship to the area where the legitimate government of Cyprus has licensed foreign companies, including America’s ExxonMobil, to drill for oil and gas in the island’s Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ.)

“The Heads of State and Government expressed their grave concern over the current escalation within the maritime areas of the eastern part of the Mediterranean, condemning the continuing Turkish actions in the exclusive economic zone of Cyprus and its territorial waters, in violation of international law,” said the tripartite statement, the news agency Reuters reported.

Their joint statement was released after Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis and Cypriot President Nicos Anastasiades met Egypt’s President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi in Cairo, saying they were anxious over “new attempts to conduct illegal exploration” in Cyprus’ EEZ.

Turkey doesn’t recognize parts of Cyprus’ EEZ nor the government, and bars its ships and plans at the same time it’s been trying to join the European Union since 2005, most recently dashed by President Recep Tayyip Erdogan’s provocative behavior toward the island, a member.

Turkey has occupied the northern third since an unlawful 1974 invasion and still keeps a 35,000-strong standing army there which it refuses to remove, which caused the collapse of the last round of reunification talks in July, 2017 at the Swiss resort of Crans-Montana.

In July, Greece accused Turkey of undermining security in the eastern Mediterranean by drilling for oil and gas around Cyprus. The two countries, along with the former Colonial ruler the United Kingdom, which still has military bases there, are guarantors of security for the island.

Turkey, which also rejected calls by the United States to stop drilling and has ignored soft EU sanctions, said the bloc – which it wants to join – can’t be fair over the question, the drilling now undermining any hopes for restarting the reunity talks.

In January, Eastern Mediterranean countries meeting in Cairo, including Greece, Cyprus and Egypt, agreed to set up a forum to create a regional gas market, cut infrastructure costs and offer competitive prices, part of efforts to transform the region into a major market energy hub.

not many countries have friends in immediate next to them outside europe

It is never a good idea to launch military action in a place like Syria, so I think this could be a mistake by Turkey, I agree. But what galls is the blatant double standards.

You must admit there wasn’t half this uproar when Saudis butchered over Yemen, especially by the Chinese or the French.

And similarly the sympathy and tears for the Kurds is stratospheric compared to the ignorance and shrugs over the beseiging & caging of Kashmir since August.

I agree mate.. Including the double standards.. Mostly by Muslim nations themselves regarding the Yemen conflict and Xinjiang, Personally i don't think there's as persecution of the Uyghurs as the Western media portrays it to be for obvious reasons but there is definitely dissent there

About Kashmir i have certain theories on how and why Pakistan lost the empathy and propaganda of large parts of the world regarding it's stance.. But discussing that i may face another ban cos lately due to certain Mods posturing with a Quran in hand and smacking bans for "Dubious" reasons on anyone that doesn't abide by his viewpoint

Mmmm there's this thing called sovereignty and territorial integrity.. Hope we will not see you whinging here if and when Indians or Iranians under the pretext of hunting down terrorists unilaterally cross over in to Pakistan

Lol, they can try if they want to ... Iran tried and lost a drone , India Tried and lost 2 jets, 1 Helicopter , 2 pilots dead 1 captured  Turkey is protecting its people against a World recognized Terrorists Group who has captured Syrian land , The land belongs to Syrian people who are living in Camps in Turkey . Don't be a Hypocrite here

Turkey just lectured the world on Human rights of Kashmiris...."Human" rights. And now is hell bound to slaughter Kurds and they are not Humans.
Terrorists per Turkey....and if they have all the rights, what wrong Israel and India are doing then?

It's hypocrisy all around....

How dumb you have to be to actually compared Turkey with Israel and India ? Israel is capturing a foreign land not for someone else but for themselves, they have turn GAZA into prison for Local population , same goes to India .. Turkey is not invading Syria for territorial gains , they have made their intentions clear that they are creating a buffer zone where they will resettle those Syrian refugee , the rightful owners of the land .

.
Indeed difficult position especially the Arabs are condemning Turks if we support Turkey they will take note and side with India next time (they are neutral or pro Indian anyways). but I don't know why you Chinese PDFers are so anti Turkey, There is world other then Turkey Chinese PDF wars. i hope Chinese Govt will sort this mess in much better way. let the meeting convene and result come, we will discuss it later. There are grim chance of US and Russia also intervening on side of Turkey.

It's just an open forum, people say what they want to say. Chinese government is very rational and diplomatic dealing with these sensitive issues.

.
No one has right to use the excuse of "protecting their own people" by invading another sovereign country.
Should have told it 50 years ago mate, too late. We are taking our own turn.

Should have told it 50 years ago mate, too late. We are taking our own turn.
And more :
Noone has right to arm or sell arms to terrorists. terrorist term here is valid for all rebels .If someone arms the terrorists, or groups who is having hostile acts against a country, simply that country has right to defend its own people through all possible ways.

True, Turkey doesn't have many friends , even in its immediate neighborhood.

by the way, this post is quite irrevelant.

Turkey may become isolated as none of powerful countries like china, russia, u.s, europe and even arabs and iran support them on this move.It is dangerous and non rational move by turkey and is bad decision
Turkey is a powerful country. They have industrial base unlike Pakistan. That's why its necessary for Pakistan to
Fair call.. Cos Chinese usually don't interfere in places that doesn't matter to them unlike the muricans that creates groups to slaughter other groups around the world and then leaves behind a cluster **** of mass slaughter

An Australian should be the last one to lecture others on sovereignty

but dont you think China will listen to Russia rather then Pakistan on this.

I think Erdogan discussed operation with President Putin. No much worries from Russia. Russia and Turkey are also trying to improve their relations.

So Turkey is a Saint, what it says as reason for slaughtering people should be believed as an legitimate excuse for the invasion and aggression.
India helped MuktiBahini to help oppressed Bengalis, made their intention clear and did not occupy land after the war...does their aggression justified then?

That is very true, many probably forget only 15 years ago Australia unprovoked invaded Iraq which is on the other side of the world and not even close as Turkey is to Syria. Such short memories.

.
I wonder who will be side with Turkey now. Putin disagree, China also disagree. Britain and France are the one who propose, and US criticize . There may be a behind the door deal between Erdogan and Trump, but I doubt US will veto the resolution. At best, they will only abstain. It also the same with China and Russia. So it will all depend on the European and Turkey now. Who can gain more support in UNSC.

.
Such as ? Australia is essentially a migrant country.. Thats why boat loads of them are waiting to come over from places such as where you're from

Now Australian govt past treatment of it's natives is another story, But then again your ignorance is bliss.. Confusing migrants with Aborigines
Not confusing at all, and definitely not talking about ancient history but maybe you havent heard about the island of Naaru and recent Australian "humanitarian" treatment of refugees and migrants

Whole world supported mukti bahini and creation of Bangladesh back then. Why such hypocrisy in case of Turkey. Because Turkey is a Muslim country?

There is nothing Muslim vs non-Muslim here... back then in 1971, Muslim Bangladesh was fighting Muslim Pakistan....today Muslim Turkey is fighting Muslim Kurds/Syrians.....US didn't send 7th fleet then, and today it has pulled our it's forces to give free-way to Turkey into Syria.
It betrayed it's ally then (Pakistan), it has betrayed it's ally today as well (Kurds)

I was taking of justifying the aggression....

Large majority of Australians did'nt support that move, They protested for days against their own govt.. While here you see almost blanket support for obvious illegitimate and wrong move by turkey.. Two different things

And i reiterate the hypocrisy on these pages by most Pakistani's are astounding, And all the while you expect others to support your cause on Kashmir ?? Ever wonder why the rest of the world is'nt too much bothered about your complaints ?

No ones stopping legitimate refugee's entering the country.. Australia is one of the countries with highest refugee grants in the world.. in 2011 alone they accepted 2% of all refugee's in the world

But that does'nt mean they have to accept every pseudo economic migrants/Third world extremist or Criminal fleeing prosecution with open arms.. Come through the right channels and no one will be rejected
