Ukraine has lost almost its entire Navy, 54 out of 67 ships are belong to us

Duh, this is called an alliance, we cover American asses on more occasions than you can imagine. We can hold our own, only thing we completely rely on NATO is the nuclear umbrella. You need to spend some time reading Turkish section of the forum, you've no idea what capabilities we have.

@Luftwaffe dude, I can't even read all your bullshit. Too god damn boring and empty
What alliance dude? They are not even admitting you in the European Union and you are talking about alliance. Turkey (or more correctly Turks) have been closer to Russia historically, and culturally. It would be better for Turkey to keep good relations with them. In your desperate hours, Europe and US will be the first to drop you like a hot potato.

. .
You think NATO would help Turkey militarily if Russia attacks Turkey? A treaty is only as good as circumstance. :yes2:

Ottonmen empire choosed the wrong side in the WW1, the whole empire collapsed. Most of the Arab don't really like the Turk throughout their history.

how can you compare a situation of war between two medieval empires in a time when conquests were the norm of the day with a situation in these modern times where a nation opportunistically annexes a portion of another country under lousy excuses without even respecting the sovereignty of the other country and international treaties regarding sovereignty? Don't bring US or Ottoman empire into this, just what do these recent actions say about Russia and the way it perceives its neighbours?

Hi, every time is modern by its standards...don't you see what US and its allies are doing including turkey with these wars so quit pointing fingers at russians...why should US and ottoman empire not be brought into discussions.

admitting? it's called accepting.

It's a power struggle between france and germany, and UK and us.... Germany and France doesn't want to accept Turkey into the union because we have growing population and in a few years we'd dominate EU and European Parliament so It's against their interests. But we have time :) once we become members of EU, we'll have a say in whatever happens in Europe. ;)

We saw what happened to Turkic states that aligned with Soviet Union :) We know what is what, also historically, we had more wars with Russia than you can imagine :) We know what we're up against, we know what we're doing :)
just wish us luck

International law is the law of military might. The United Nations is useless. The general secretary of the United Nations is powerless. The current world is ruled by jungle law. :victory1:

you're comfortably talking from a different part of the world. the west is a devil we know, but who knows what kind of devil Russia (history aside) will become when it has solved its internal problems and is independent enough to face the west. After all Russia is our arch enemy since centuries ago. let's not be naive to believe that Russia will end US hegemony and stop there. what Turkey needs to do is play their cards well and keep balance between Russia and US relationship. a war between Turkey and Russia is unlikely anyway.

dude, seriously, Ukrainian people in general didnt vote to give a piece of their land away, neither did they honestly formally declare war on each other and fight for it. What Russia did was opportunistically snatch away a piece of land under some half assed reasons while they didnt even care about Ukrainian sovereignty. Perhaps you would only understand the difference if it was your nation that was subject to such Russian acts.

E.U don't consider Turk as a member because culture, religion, political and military expansion of Turkey, E.U won't allow a Muslim nation to dictate E.U political landscape. Turkey still a muslim nations and E.U mostly are Christian, eternal enemy between religious belief won't bridge the difference and join hand.

Actually, because Turkey is mainly an Asian country with a small part in Europe, it is not legible to join the EU.

Please don't get me (and Pakistanis) wrong. We Pakistanis inherit love and respect for our Turk brethren. We pray to Allah for the well being of Turkey. It would be best that Turkey minimizes its reliance over Europe/US and emerges as an independent power.

Turkey been at the E.U doorstep ready to be invite in for over 2 decade. If E.U welcome Turkey in, the marriage already would have taken place long ago.

no one is talking about EU, Legionaire was talking about nato assistance. If the western nations don't help Turkey in case of war it would damage nato's image, they would lose Turkey (which is actually one of the most progressive nation within nato while European nations slow down) forever and it would encourage other non-nato nations to go on adventures.
whether Nato is prepared to accept this damage is up to them

don't worry, brother. Turkey has been getting slowly independent from excessive western influences since the last 10 years or so. And i hope this trend will continue in the military, economically and politically field. But in this case Turkey is not with the west just to please them, but it's the right thing to do so, at least from our perspective. i respect your view too.
