U.S. to give Pakistan 12 Shadow Drones

Global politics is an interesting subject when coupled with International Relations. Something the Yanks are expert at. Yesterday's enemies, today's friends. The motive is mutual, so is the aim of India, Israel and U.S. The ugly face of the END GAME!

So basically they are giving us the guns but not bullets? How the f*** is this going to help us? We already have Falco at home, do we really need this rubbish? Err, i don't think so.

I will be surprised & absolutely ashamed if Pak Army accept this. We are suppose to be their ally and yet they are treating us like jerks. Time to stand up and tell them either give us helicopters or armed drones, not this useless sh**.

put zardari in jail get the looted money and buy drones not useless drones.. option 2: force govt to pay more for purchase of drones people of Pakistan were dieing of hunger 25 years ago what is the difference now?

Option 3: (true figure 5 Million Afghans) send them back from where they came and save $$$ divert those millions for defense.. frankly i don't see any other option left with Pakistan Armed Forces..or eat grass and make our own potential armed drones by any means..

What a mockery this is. We already have similar systems in our own inventory. The specs suggest that this is a low end UAV only meant for very limited reconnaissance missions. Pakistan is being taken for a ride. Time to reject this lousy offer.

May be they have better camera and more capability than your UAV..it will surely help in reconnaissance ...

to seiko...read below

Sensors being used in the Falco UAV include a thermal imager, a colour TV camera, a spotter or a laser designator, NBC (nuclear, biological and chemical) sensor, electro optic (EO) sensor and an infrared (IR) sensor.
"The Falco UAV flys at a height of 6,500m and can carry a maximum payload of 70kg."

The NBC sensors enable army personnel to detect any nuclear, biological and chemical attacks from enemies. Electro-optic sensors increase the range and vision of aircraft at low-light levels. They convert the light rays into electronic signals.

Infrared sensors are primarily used by ground vehicle operators for clear visibility of the battlefield. They capture infrared rays emitted by objects.

Should be clear to you seiko

Hi. Doesn't pakistan already has drones? What difference shadow drone can make? World is moving towards missile drones. Soon or later india will get american drones equipped with missiles and india will get more from israel too.

Some of Military Offical said that possibility (chances in near future) US will also agree to sell Predator as well. Let see...

"Filhaal may sooch ye raha ho kay iskay badlay Zardari nay kya diya hoga hmmmmm" lol

Zardari dane waloon main nai ata woh lena waloon main ata hai.

I agree with the policy that we should refuse to accept Shadow and continue asking for Predators. The same as we did for F-16's. Eventually we will get them.

The UCAV India is getting from the US is names MQ-15 "Khayali-Pulao", very deadly indeed.

Now let's get back to discussing a possible real deal. I would love to see a side-by-side comparison of our Falco and the offered Shadow. And people, let's not speak ill of a piece of engineering we know nothing about.

Officials: U.S. To Give Unarmed Drones To Pakistan

ISLAMABAD - The United States plans to provide Pakistan with a dozen unarmed drone aircraft that will help bolster its military as it takes on Taliban militants, U.S. defense officials said.

Details of the drones emerged late Jan. 21 during a visit to Pakistan by U.S. Defense Secretary Robert Gates, who was asked in an interview with Pakistani television if Washington would supply Islamabad with the unmanned aircraft.

"There are some tactical UAVs that we are considering, yes," Gates said.

Defense officials in his delegation afterward confirmed funds had been set aside to secure 12 Shadow aerial drones for Pakistan.

The Shadow drones, smaller than the armed Predator and Reaper aircraft, are about 11 feet long and have a wing-span of 14 feet, with sensors and cameras feeding video images back to operators on the ground.

The Pakistani military already had some less sophisticated drones for surveillance but would need to heavily invest in training specialists to be able to take advantage of the new hardware, said U.S. officials, who spoke on condition of anonymity.

The U.S. employs armed drones for missile strikes against al-Qaida and Taliban figures in Pakistan, fueling anti-American sentiment and drawing public condemnation from the government in Islamabad.

Pakistani officials have previously called for Washington to provide its military with armed drones.

US to supply 'Shadow' drones to Pakistan: officials

Yes, we should get the shadow and evaluate it in the battlefield before passing out judgements. The equipment India buys is just used to peace times. The equipment Pakistan Armed Forces get are used and trained in combat. The first Afghan War to defeat the Soviets was a major contribution by Pakistan and the PAF dog fights with Soviet Pilots. Pakistan Armed Forces were in Operation Desert Shield, in Somalia and now in the second Afghan War, Kargil War, etc.. We can test any piece of equipment in combat anytime, not like India, buy it, display it and store it.

hmmmm. unarmed drones.

if you want my honest assesment, we'd be better served getting tech. know-how on how to increase range, improve sensors and recce capabilities of the UAVs that are being made domestically.

this the least we could do. I'm not berating the U.S. offer, but I am expressing some mild reservations. If this will only be a recce UAV and not an armed drone, then we don't need an entirely new platform.

What is the operational time of these Shadows?

How it compares to Uqaab/Jasoos, and the Falcos?

I'm busy getting ready for ODI, i dont have time for wikipedia and shmikipedias.

We should reject the UAV.Shadow UAV is not worth the demands Americans will make. After all Falco is equally capable in fact i believe far more capable then then piece of **** RQ-7.
