Turkish General Elections 2015 (June 7, 2015)

Strictly speaking true, but in practice false: Americans elect candidate-designated electors who then vote for president but that's pretty much a formality.
"Americans elect candidate-designated electors"

That is, in practice, NOT electing the president.

That is also the reason why 1 out of every 4 elections the president happens to be the one the minority of the nation voted for while the candidate the majority of the nation voted for fails.

Thats how George Bush won 2000 election despite getting less votes than Al Gore.
Stupid and unnecessary system if you ask me, why do you need electors after a public election in the first place?

That has been designed in the early days of the newly created young The United States of America.

Because of the fact that the country was so massive, and technology just lacked a lot back in hundreds of years ago, a "middle-man" system was required as it was like impossible to physically bring votes to one center and count them one by one.

To make is simpler, the president is elected by 538 votes coming from "the state electors", and the vote counts are not proportional as well.

The system sucks but it was the best system back in old days.

However, because it is damn too hard for the US constitution to be able to be changed, no one could change the way how it works up to this day and it often keeps getting abused even today.

Its a very open system for fraud, you just need to ''buy'' a couple electors et voila, welcome the new president.

That is also why it used to happen with obvious differences in the past.

Add Gerrymandering into the clusterfuck and there you have the US election system where money can buy, not only the presidency, but thanks to gerrymandering also the senate and the house of representatives as well!

...

As for US, American citizens do not get to elect their president. And considering the fact that US is ruled by a presidential system and presidents hold all the ruling power as well as the authority to own the government the way he wants, it is clear that US is also not a democracy.

lol lol lol

It's a joke.

Its always better to integrate people into Society

Apparently 13.3% of the nation disagrees with you. :-)

I look at this picture. PKK Kurds waving Ataturk's flag, while Muslim Turks spit on Ataturk's picture.

HAHAHA...

Kurds abandoned AKP. And AKP stood in the open like a naked @ss.

if you are serious than wave a pkk flag.. hope you are not serious with this o_O

what do you personally want to say with this?

Oh, that's what you mean! Voting for the elector is still voting for president. The Electoral College was created by the Founding Fathers to give some more weight to smaller states in the Union. Winning the popular vote isn't enough. If it was, most presidential candidates would pay attention only to the largest states.

look at germany CDU is ruling its similar to turkish elections.. we just have to be normal and accept a coalition..
That coalitions has flaws in Turkey isnt the systems fault but our politians, come on you can hardly say any of our politians are good.
In Germany it works just fine...

How could this happen.......
Since when there are so many kurds there.......
I fon't think it's purely Kurds that made hdp big this time. Of vourse its a fact that the south east has voted more for hdp than akp this time, but there is also the claim, which is not far fetched at all, that some chp, mhp and former akp voters voted for hdp, just to either push them through the barriere and/or to avoid akp getting votes to change the constitution.

MHP and HDP? It is like an alliance between Turkish Army and PKK.
It will probably happen eventually though. Mhp has said that it is ready for a coaltion with the chp and mhp.
