Turkish Engine Programs

can we get some clarifications on the Turkish turboshaft engines

T625 Gokbey is using LHTEC CTS800 engines

however a home grown engine has been built called TS1400

this engine has been tested on T625 Gokbey and will be used on T129 attack helicopter

T129 also is using the LHTEC CTS800 engines and soon shall use Turkish TS1400 after its been tested and proved on 625 Gokbey

Has TAI got any timeline when the TS1400 will be used on T129, is the first flight expected to be in 2022?

and once TS1400 is certified on T129 can be exported without any restrictions or sanctions

i) T625 Gökbey using TS-1400 and domestic transmission. Not LHTEC CTS800.
ii) TS-1400 is not using on T129 Atak. TS-1400 with domestic transmission using on T629&T625 Gökbey.
iii) Again, most probably TS-1400 is never certified for T129 Atak.

ok so just to summarise

T129 Light weight attack helicopter will continue to use foreign engine
T629 Medium weight attack helicopter will use TS1400 same T625 Gokbey
ATAK II Heavy weight attack helicopter will use engine from Ukraine while a home built TS3000 is under development

so the chance for Pakistan to buy Turkish attack helicopter with Turkish engine and transmissions are with T629/T625 and ATAK II not T129

even if ATAK II does not get Turkish engines Pakistan has good relationship with Ukraine (T-80UD deal) and should not be a issue export ATAK II to Pakistan

Indigenous engine target is for other ATAK programs; not T-129.

And the TEI TS1400 is actually a civil aviation engine to be fitted to a utility helicopter. So it is subject to EASA certification. There is a certification process we call CS-E. You have to keep everything under control, from the diameter of the dust particles that will enter the engine, to the amount of ice that will form inside, to the amount of Nitrogen-Oxide that the engine will oscillate. For this reason, all of these subsystems go through a detailed and rigorous testing process. All of these processes continue according to certain standards and it takes a certain process to complete them.

However, it is possible to talk about a possibility that the attack helicopter engine, which will be built on the TS-1400 core, may have a similar interface with the LHTEC T800. Thus, when it comes to the comprehensive modernization of ATAK-T129 helicopters in the future, backward compatibility could be created through TEI's turboshaft engine family.

That's all of right. ;)

It was expected for a year, finally it shared with the press. The fact that some projects have recently been declassified or started to be shared with the press may also be a message to some places. Let's see when TAI will introduce the aircraft that will be powered by this engine...

What is the application of this TF-6000 engine. UAVs?

Light aircrafts, UAVs, and on naval platforms with its derivative variants.

The 6,000/10,000 lbf engine will allow TAI and other aviation companies to develop HALE class unmanned maritime patrol aircrafts or for example unmanned tankers, unmanned SOJ aircrafts etc., completely freed from foreign dependency. But more importantly, afterburner and supersonic capability indicate that this family of engines will have a critical role in future UCAV projects.
