Impressive super alloy component and manufacturing process in Turkey

İnci Project: Manufacturing capability domestically for the titanium alloy parts needed in air platforms through precision casting method

Yakut Project: Project aims at acquisition of the Metal Powder Laser Melting (LAM) process as well as the process modeling capability for manufacturing of functional parts that have advanced mechanical features and can operate under challenging conditions such as high pressure and temperature differences in aircraft engines. Accordingly, under the project, the combustor component of the TJ90 turbojet engines, which consists of 9 sub-components, will be manufactured from UNS N06625 nickel super alloy material in one piece by using additive manufacturing method in a way to meet the mechanical requirements.

Through the know-how and experience to be gained with the YAKUT Project, it is aimed for TEI to become a main engine manufacturer that is capable of manufacturing parts by using additive manufacturing methods in its own engines in the long term

The Dilek Project: backed up by the Undersecretariat for Defense Industries, is carried out by TAI and TEI in collaboration with the aim of developing superplastic forming process for titanium alloys which are used in both platform and engine applications in aviation industry, and as a result reducing dependence on foreign sources.

Müge Project: The purpose of program is to develop Magnesium Alloy Casting technology

Dinç Project: 240t melting capacity aviation quality stainless steel and nickel-based alloys required to be used in aerospace platforms for the defense industry and civil purposes.

The Atom project: to develop nickel metal powder suitable for layered manufacturing for aerospace applications

Turkey produce under license American GE F110 turbofan Engine for decades

Turkish TEI designed 9 stage compressor providing same press/airflow ratio with original HP compressor with 10 stage designed by GE

TEI designed combustion chamber reached %98+ Combustion efficiency in trials. That is a good indication for compressors and fuel injection working efficienctly to mix optimum amount of air/fuel particulars (1/14) in chamber.

Turkish Engineers took a GE engine which had 10 compression stages, modified 9 stages to where the 10th stage was not necessary and was removed. A GE engine modified by Turks with 9 stages outputted same power and efficiency, with weight savings.

only a few Countries have these high technologies in the World such as USA , The UK , France , Turkey , also China

Soviet ( Russia-Ukraine ) technology is different

Thanks for the info. You are right I was less aware of Turkey now having single crystal technology and blisk.

In the other thread I was talking to the other guy who insists that China cannot do that stuff when we have already finished all that ages ago. Just because Business Insider says J-20 uses Russian engines while J-11B flying with WS-10A for more than 5 years already in the 2010s at that stage. Well the first J-20s used Russian engines, now it uses WS-10C engines. They didn't use WS-10 engines for first J-20 prototypes and first few units because the WS-10C variant for J-20 was not ready during the early 2010s when the fighter was developed. US constantly accuses China of not having 5th gen engine technology and so those articles are mentioning the best 5th gen tech for engines. It is true China has not put into service the WS-15 which would be the 5th generation engine but that member used an article that says J-20 uses 4th gen engines as some argument like China cannot make engines and Turkey is superior.

Just because we did not have 5th gen engine done and ready as our J-20 is produced, doesn't mean we cannot make any engines. In fact quite the opposite is true.

Well Turkey has single crystal blade technology and some of the materials and manufacturing technologies required like blisk. I was not aware of how much Turkey has so am corrected with this. Just like that guy was not aware how much China has. We will see if Turkey can finish this program and if the engine proves to be a good one.

only a few Countries have these high technologies in the World such as USA , The UK , France , Turkey , also China

Soviet ( Russia-Ukraine ) technology is different
See China, see India : they all struggle a lot to produce a jet engine.
To be able to produce all the spares is one thing, but to fine tune the whole package another.

One time in my life I had the opportunity to discuss with the technical director of SNECMA in charge of M88, André Barbot (I met him durinf his on wedding. His son was a collaborator of mine). He explain me that it is like sorcery to fine tune an engine. He said not more than 10 peoples in the world can do that (some very competent engineer, with a harsh experience and a lot of prototyps behind them).
A mature fighter engine is something among the most difficult object to realize. It takes 10 years from scratch to the best, with so many skill behind them, to do that.

I'm very impressed by what you made with armed drones. But mark my words : your first on duty world class fighter engine is not for tomorrow, nor in 10 years.

Japanese can make such good turbines which in some ways is harder than aircraft turbofan. It is very hard and require decades of consistent work with expensive investing and progressing but not sorcery. Sorcery doesn't exist in working form. Engines exist.

Of countries that have already finished modern engines of high power classes there is USA, UK, Russia, France, China, and Japan. Germany in the past and if they want to, I can confidently say Germany can do it in little time not more than 10 years. Sweden too in the past and possibly can do a new one under 10 years if they needed to. Same with Korea to be honest. Got the smarts the academics and the money. With the western ones they already have the experience too and continued experience. It is possible to jump in. China has.

Turkey could in some time but we will see. Actually they seem to have really managed much progress. India with Kaveri has failed and accept failure as under Safran they would simply use M88 as basis for new engine they will call as Kaveri but nothing like the one they tried.

China always struggle to have engine with more than hundreds hours under the wings. But it's only a time question.
Germany? No experience in hot core since ww2. Forget them.
Sweden? Their engines was a US engine, civilian or military one, derivative. No skill in hot core.
Korea.... ??? first time Korea is quoted to that level. No experience = the step is high !
Turkey could in some time but we will see.
See how it is difficult to study and produce a 1500 HP engine for your MBT (and the gear box also it seems). A fighter engine is another beast.
Sorcery doesn't exist in working form. Engines exist.
It's not so mathematic ! The fine tune between the different parts of the engine needs special skill, something like intuition.
The word "sorcery" may be discurbing, but it's not my word. It's the M88 father word.
See the Kaveri exemple : it runs well with AB. AB don't seemed to be the hardest part of a fighter engine. But the interaction with the hot core were never solved.

Why do you still measure the hours under the wings by 2007 reports? WS-10 since at least 2015 has been said to have 2000 hours MTBO. Those problems long been overcome.

Germany has turbine skills like Japan and machining skills with all the core technology they already have or can access and buy if there is one part they cannot do. China and India even Turkey would not be allowed to even hear these things.

Now sweden's use F414 but I said they can do it like Germany.

Our 1500hp engine is easy the gearbox was hard and been problem for years on Type 98 then higher horsepower engine for 99 defeated any improvement. Now it is much better but I wonder how good. The engine is easier the gearbox you are right.

A fighter engine is hard. Easier than airline engine because military standards for safety and economy is lower priority than performance. But it is something many can really do. WS-10 again I will say is 2000 hours MBTO. Hundreds of hours is impossible for service on nearly 400 aircraft now. Long ago been said already quite officially that engine life at start was 10s of hours to 100s of hours but those units in late 2000s was prototyping and still learning. Since middle of 2010s that has been said to beat AL-31 in MBTO but not spooling time performance.

India could simply not make Kaveri work for any serious use. First it was no single crystal and blades breaking off. Low creep resistance for useless hours of operation. They will not even use a single one for service fighter. Not before and still not use it. We have used WS-10 on J-11B first then J-16, J-10C and J-20. It has featured as tests on J-10B and J-16 early before those fighters adopted the engine. It has flown under wings for over 10 years and with at least five distinct flown versions, WS-10, WS-10A, WS-10B, WS-10C, WS-10 thrust vectoring prototype. Middle three are service engines and A has over 10 years of service with at least 5 years of that proving 2000 hours MBTO. Maybe not 4000 hours like western engines but not so bad for first high power turbofan which was engineered in 2000s and used back then China's lower industrial abilities. Program started in 1990s.

Not really.
The trust/weight ratio requested is harder to obtain in a fighter engine. No 9G in a liner (it is one of the F35 engine problem : the shaft of the engine is not straight enough in high G turn, even if F35 is not as agile as requested). No >1800° entry turbine temperature in a liner engine.
Germany has turbine skills like Japan and machining skills with all the core technology they already have or can access and buy if there is one part they cannot do.
Strangely the german leave the lead to SAFRAN for the next gen fighter engine...
Strangely the japanese need the help of GB for their next fighter engine....

Producing components is one thing (and the raw materials may come from US in the F110 case).
To be able to study, produce all the raw materials and fine tune a whole object is another.
In the case of single crystal blades, there's also a vast difference between a laboratory scale production and a mass production.

For years Turkey produces licensed engines for Americans, English or other countries, engineers have largely had time to study and refine a new engine, combining all technologies it will be possible to have a perfect engine This is Chinese, French, Russian, Japanese, Israeli in other sectors by copying the projects of others.

It is thanks to the Germans that the US, Russia and the others ( France , Uk ) have been able to have access to nuclear technology.

Turkey, via its aerospace industry, could thus acquire 50% of the shares of the Ukrainian enterprise employing 20,000 employees
, a transaction equivalent to that which was to take place with Chinese companies. The initial goal for Ankara would be to produce motorization solutions for its helicopter programs that today are heavily disabled by US sanctions in this area. The motorization of combat drones, such as Akinci or the future TB3, which must operate from the Helicopter carriers of the Anadulu class, will also be a priority for the Turkish aerospace industry, as well as that of the transport aircraft. Regional Trj 328 Derivative of Dornier 328 German.

The best joke of that day !

so you should learn your story, because you do not know anything. :turkey:
Because France will never have had the abilities to develop its nuclear weapon without the help of German engineers. :big_boss:.
