Turkey has unveiled an upgraded version of its hybrid main battle tank which combining the hull of a Leopard 2A4 with the turret of an Altay.

The latest version of the tank was displayed during the visit of the Minister of National Defense Hulusi Akar to the BMC Plant.
The upgraded Leopard 2A4 is equipped with a Turkish-made active protection system and laser warning systems. It combines the chassis of Germany’s tank with the turret of locally developed Altay with 120mm (4.7 in) smoothbore gun.

Altay is Turkey’s domestically designed and manufactured third-generation+ main battle tank and developed under Turkey’s largest land platform project.

Altay incorporates state-of-the-art technologies enabling enhanced armour protection, mobility and firepower.

Earlier in October 2019, a senior shareholder in BMC Ethem Sancak stated the Altay tank would be fielded within 24 months but the program faced major delays due to failed access to significant components like the engine, transmission and armor.

Very good advise but this fellow is like a kid in a candy shop who wants ALL THE CANDIES RIGHT NOW ! :lol:
Yes we have a Tank and we are working on a new one called AL KHALID II. If you are kid or have no clue what Pakistan Army is up to then that is not my issue. So first go and bother to get educated before coming here and talking things which you have no clue about.

I guess Turkey still hasn't found a solution for its tank power pack ? Germany / EU still refuses to sell to Turkey. This is originally why Turkey turned to South Korea but the South Koreans have been claiming for years that they will produce their own engine / transmission for their tanks but they still buy German to this day.

@Kamil_baku

When is Turkey going to have a world class indigenous 1500hp diesel engine with computerized auto transmission?
For AL KHALID II Pakistan should bring Turkey in. I am pretty sure Turkey can help us design a 55 tone Tank which would be one off the best in the world.

@Horus @Path-Finder @Arsalan @Dazzler @Stealth @Tipu7 @Sulman Badshah
You will be greatly disappointed anyway.. PA will long get Altay instead of VT-4 if Turkey is really that capable.

We would have if its maximum weight was 60 tonnes. But it's around 67 tones which is a big now for. Our best chance is to get Turkey involved and produce a 55 to 50 tone Tank.

You can keep dreaming but it will not happened. PA will stick with Chinese supplier and Norinco expertise.

South Korean already use their own engine for their new tanks, the transmission that is still imported since it fails on the military certification test.

Our current AL KHALID 1 has hardly anything from China in it. We buy a lot from Europe and Turkey. We are not dumb enough to only depend on one source.

Hardly? Besides the engine and some small subsystem, all remaining design are assisted by NORINCO from chasis to main gun, auto loader and armour.

Now your VT-4 is a 100% Chinese tank. Be grateful to Chinese help.

They are not. From engine to internal systems most come from various parts of the world. Including France and Ukraine and few others.
