With 6xTRG-UAV, a military convoy moving in an area of 60 meters by 300+ meters can be hit from 80+km away within 60-70 seconds after laser marking. I said 6, bcs 6 trg-230-iha can be easilly carried in a single sortie with AKINCI. The advantage of artillery rockets over cruise missiles is not only their speed, but also the fact that they are much cheaper types of ordnances. Making them air-lauchable could become a very difficult problem for the opposing force to overcome.
The problem (of sorts ) is that the Akinci is a large platform (almost as large as a fighter jet) and therefore has a high radar signature compared to TB2. This signature makes it more vulnerable to SAM systems than the TB2 ( which by value of its smaller size, has a smaller RCS and therefore can operate closer the theatre ).
By is nature - these Akinci will find it difficult to evade modern SAM system. Of course, this can be offset with even longer range missiles, and also composites in the airframe(may be they have).
"To me" - the best advantage is it persistence value to maintain a monitoring presence over a given area using its advanced radars, and sensors and offers an effective way of not having loiter time defined by human resilience for monitoring activities.
Akinci with sideways ( or directable noise mounted ) AESA rada offers a fantastic increase in capability or monitoring of aircraft, SAR capabilities and maritime monitoring in a network centric warfare platform with it nodal capabilities.
Early days - and people will refine what works and does not work as they explore new concepts etc. We are witnessing the era of the start of drone warfare now.
