GUWAHATI: Amid criticism by Congress and All India United Democratic Front (AIUDF), the Jamaat Ulama-e-Hind (JUEH) on Friday defended that there is nothing wrong for having ties with the with the RSS.
Recently both the ruling Congress and AIUDF alleged that JUEH was working on behalf of and propagating RSS' ideology in Assam.
While Congress minister Siddique Ahmed alleged that RSS is using JUEH to make inroads into Muslim community, AIUDF chief Badrudding Ajmal charged the Muslim organization of working for political benefits of BJP ahead of the 2016 assembly polls.
JUEH state working president Abdul Jalil Khan asserted here, "We are working in close partnership with RSS. We are for unity of Hindus and Muslims. There is nothing wrong it."
JUEH in association with RSS-affiliate Muslim Rashtriya Manch is working to bring Muslims of the state closer to RSS. JUEH national president Suhaib Qasmi last month said here that objective of his organization is to dispel misunderstanding from Muslim community towards RSS.
Qasmi will held a series of meeting in Muslim-dominated districts in Lower Assam from November 26 during his five-day tour in the state.
JUEH has also called a public meeting here on January next year. It said that Muslim leaders from different parts of the state will take part in the meeting to send the message that RSS and BJP are not antagonistic to the interest of the community. JUEH worked closely with MRM in wooing Muslim voters of Jammu and Kashmir ahead of the assembly polls there earlier this year.
