EMALS is still more efficient than steam catapult which US used for 50+ years in the Forrestal and Kitty Hawk classes.embarrassed by a gas turbine powered EMALS? It shows you know nothing about naval combat OPS tempo. Here is a brain teaser for you. Figure out the peak output of one marine gas turbine in kw/hour, find out how much KW energy a single cat shot consumes and find out how much fuel is needed to maintain / sustain wartime sortie rates. The amount of fuel and chemical energy storage needed for a day or two of sustained peak op's tempo will make that carrier go out in a spectacular explosion with a single hit.
In contrast, the USS Gerald Ford can launch aircrafts all day long without consuming any fuel and it fully recharges the launch system in 45 seconds.
