The CVN-78 has already been commissioned 5 years ago, but the USN still has not decided to deploy it in the Asia-Pacific region.

Originally, it was planned to be deployed in that region.

It does look like this ship has really let the USN down.

so what leads you to conclude that there is problem with the power output for the EMALS?

Haven't you thought about why, from LCS to Zumwalt to Ford, Americans have made mistakes again and again?

This is not a technical error, but an error in the entire US Navy development system.

Without solving the system problems, the Ford class will not be the last time the US Navy makes mistakes, and such mistakes will occur more and more frequently.

This is no brainer.

Everybody knows that the CVN-78 is not combat ready yet, and it is also cannibalizing the parts that should be used for the CVN-79.

Fujian will be combat ready sooner than people expected, and its IEP system was already being tested on the Type 055 and Shandong.

It is also adding the new techs like EMALS, AAG and fast-neutron reactor.

It is going to become successful like the Type 055, also a testbed for the future ships.

The USN has really dropped the ball for not deploying the Ford class carriers in the Asia-Pacific region to confront China's rising navy.

China has recently been very low profile with its hypersonic weapons, exascale supercomputers, and supercarrier Fujian.

Because China doesn't want to agitate the US too much. Otherwise, a desperate US with nothing to lose gonna drag the whole world into a nuclear chaos.

It got the IEP system like the Queen Elizabeth class and Shandong, but also two small fast-neutron reactors like this, which was developed by China in recent years for both civilian and military.

I guess those small reactors might not be as powerful as the A1B reactors, but it is much cheaper, also much easier to maintain.
