SU 30 MKI Vs RAFALE SPECS

@drsomanath:
Noob question!
Can't we simply give Rafale's serpentine intakes for other fighters too?like lca?

Also,is it possible to fire Russian AAMs from Rafale?

1. The whole airframe has to be redesigned for that, won't be economical given the cost escalation it'll cause.

2. Both French and Russians have to agree for that, given that French will give us total source code of their radar. This won't be much of a problem.

So,each missile should be integrated with the radars right? Is this applicable to hard points too? Is it possible to fire an AAM from any hard point?

well why should it ???it already has Y duct airintake which is itself stealthy because it hides engine compressor face
Also,is it possible to fire Russian AAMs from Rafale?
it depends upon missile data link will it be compatible to Rafale that needs to be seen.

LCA already has a Y-duct and you can't divert the intakes from one fighter to another, because the size is always specific.

If we get the source codes we can integrate other weapons to a certain radar, but are the additional costs worth it? Any hardpoint has it's weight and size limitations, a wing tip station for example can hold only lighter SR missiles in most cases.

I am talking about the air superiority role - an area that the J-10B was specifically designed for.

On the other hand, both Rafale and Su-30MKI are "jack of all trades" aircraft. They have advantages over the J-10B but will find it diffult to compete in the air-superiority role with J-10B.

That's not correct, especially by the fact that the MKI is a version of the air superiority fighter Su 27. Also, J10 was not more designed for air superiority as Rafale, since both share the same delta canard design, a higher ceilling, or max speed don't make it superior like some people in that threat claimed.

Rafale missile specs...

Name
• AASM
Weapon characteristics
• Range: in excess of 50 km for high-altitude release
and 15km for low-altitude release
• High accuracy thanks to INS/GPS navigation
• Armament length: 3 m
• Armament weight: 330 kg

The AASM is a new conventional weapon comprising a guidance kit
and a range-extension kit that transform a bomb body into a precision
air-to-ground weapon.
• Accurate, all-weather, stand-off, fire & forget, multi-target weapon
• AASM system is made up of 2 kits that equip the bomb body:
- a guidance kit, attached to the front of the bomb body, containing electronic equipment
and control fins
- a range-extension kit, attached to the rear of the bomb body, containing a solid
propellant booster and an aerodynamic unit that increases lift and allows stand-off firing
• AASM is available with three guidance variants:
- GPS/inertial
- GPS/inertial/infrared-image
- GPS/inertial/semi active laser
• Large footprint, even at low altitude with stand-off extended range and large
off-boresight delivery
• Controlled impact conditions and selectable angle of impact

Name
• STORM SHADOW / SCALP
Missile characteristics
• Weight: 1300 kg
• Length: 5.10 m
• Propulsion: turbojet
• Navigation: INS, GPS and Terrain Referenece Navigation
• Warhead: blast / penetrator
• Range in excess of 250km

High survivability
Launched aircraft survivability is achieved through the missiles long stand-off range and low
observability.
Long flight time and sophisticated mission planning allow the missile to avoid enemy
ground-to-air defence systems.
High levels of navigation accuracy are provided by the INS, GPS and Terrain Reference Navigation
system.
Pinpoint terminal accuracy
A high resolution IIR seeker and Automatic Target Recognition (ATR) ensure outstanding terminal
performance and minimises collateral damage.
Terminal effectiveness
Provided by high final dive and tandem lethal warhead including a precursor charge and a large
explosive / kinetic energy penetrator. The missile provides a choice of airburst, impact and
penetrative modes depending on the target to be attacked.
Minimal crew workload
Enabling single-seat aircraft to operate the weapon system
