What's new

Sorry, folks. Starbucks is not coming to Pakistan

When a foreigner comes to a country he is more interested in local culture and food. And no sane person will pass an oppurtunity to eat our food rather than Star bucks.

There are alot of western fast food chains that are available here but not in India

I will be happy if you can provide list of major fast food chains available in pakistan but not in india !

Does Pakistan have Costa Coffee and Barista ?

As per 2014, there is no costa coffee in pakistan

For a foreigner once they come to a country, their choice of query and one such is about starbucks,KFC etc available in their visited city or not.Having a multinational chains means that how far one country/city is connected to International brands and so its value. You can't expect an international chain in multan/peshawar when lahore/karachi/islamabad don't have one.The same way if you don't have these brands means, you are not so connected to outside world especially western world.

There you go again, belittling Pakistan for not having starbucks. We still don´t give a single grain of shit about starbucks or any foreign brand for what it matters. We don´t need starbucks and if not having starbucks means we are short on international connections (in your narrow and twisted mind), then so be it(still in your mind). It´s just an overpriced cup of bitter drink anyway. By the way I hate coffee.

That's not true.
In India, a local brand called Cafe Coffee Day has utterly destroyed all foreign competition.
Barista (Italian) and Costa Coffee are struggling. They have not been able to expand more than few token cafe's.

Star bucks is the first foreign brand in coffee's that is able to set up at scale and more importantly - sustain - profits in India.

But even there, TATA has the star bucks franchise business and gets 50% of the profits. So atleast an Indian company is making money. That's the consolation.

Indian Coffee chain , 'Cafe Coffee Day' has also expanded outside India with its outlets in Austria (Vienna), Czech Republic, Malaysia and Egypt.

There was like a 500m long line on the day the first starbucks opened in India!
Ask those kids whether its worth it or not.

Also dude, why are you making this a dick measuring contest. I thought we were all just united in dislike for starbucks as well as united in teenagers loving starbucks.

Relax dear, there is no such contest !

The cheapest coffees
Among commercial coffee chains, Cafe coffee day vs Starbucks,CCD sells some of the cheapest coffees in India.

For instance, a small cappuccino at CCD costs Rs79 ($1.2), compared to Rs120 ($1.85) at Starbucks, as of Dec. 2014, the prospectus said. A small espresso costs Rs69 ($1.06) while a hot chocolate is priced at Rs101 ($1.55). At a Starbucks outlet, coffee drinkers would have to shell out Rs100 ($1.54) and Rs135 ($2.08) for an espresso and hot chocolate, respectively.

The indian giant CCD as of March 2015, have 1530 outlets across 29 states of India.Cafe Coffee Day has also expanded outside India with its outlets in Austria (Vienna), Czech Republic, Malaysia and Egypt.
