What's new

Sorry, folks. Starbucks is not coming to Pakistan

Partially agree, but the same way even somalians can also make the same statements, but i consider that as an excuse rather than facts.

Does somalia have stable domestic situation? It's one of those countries which are facing Civil war or similar situation so how you can bring Somalia as reference?

As for Pakistan we have plenty foreign food, beverages companies and International food chains working here, so if one don't want to come here who cares.

For a foreigner once they come to a country, their choice of query and one such is about starbucks,KFC etc available in their visited city or not.Having a multinational chains means that how far one country/city is connected to International brands and so its value. You can't expect an international chain in multan/peshawar when lahore/karachi/islamabad don't have one.The same way if you don't have these brands means, you are not so connected to outside world especially western world.

Since you are so conntected to the western world.. you should do something about the stereotyping..

In cartoons its appu with his 7/11 store and funny accent.

In movies its slum dog millionaire.

In hollywood,, its the ugly, tiny new money kind with funny accent whom the hero always shows the middle finger..

Etc etc etc..

This is my point, foreign brands will not take risk or invest to those countries which are unstable or does not posses much business opportunity. The same applies to starbucks, since they don't find proper climate for them to invest in pakistan, because of all these factors though pakistan have many other brands.

We are connected to western world and that's why we are getting even 3 year schengen visa, if an indian wants to trip to Europe or Indians in US is the richest emigrants, more than even british american or even many indians in US becomes the CEO's of Google,Microsoft. Even my collegue is a pakistani, but for him find difficult to get schengen visa for his business trip to Europe.

There is a difference between country and cafe.. you are too retarded to know that....

P.S: Can you even afford a 12 dollar coffee? considering your country rivals sub saharan africa when it comes to poverty.

Please let it go, mate. Starbucks is honestly not all that it's made out to be.

No outlet in the world is worth six pages nor is it worth discussion nor is it a benchmark and quite frankly those that make it a benchmark to gauge the standard of a country have rocks for brains. Pakistan has multiple multinational outlets so if a coffee joint doesn't come here then I am not worried especially after all the reviews posters here gave it when it was coming.

Good lord people.

It may be every coffee lover's dream, but it isn't coming true yet.

Contrary to rumours on the internet, popular American coffeehouse chain Starbucks is not setting up shop in Pakistan.

In the past fortnight, news of Starbucks' impending arrival has been circulating on social media forums, and fans of the coffee company have been speculating where it's likely to open its first outlet.

Upon enquiry from Starbucks' press management, Images learned that Starbucks has "no plans at this time to open a store in Pakistan."

This isn't the first time wishful thinking has gotten out of hand. There have been strong rumours in the past that a whole bunch of coveted foreign brands' are "coming to Pakistan", from fashion retailers like Zara and Victoria Secret to tech giants like Apple.

Those brands have yet to materialise — and Starbucks won't either. At least, not yet.

Changga hay!

Instead of promoting foreign franchies, we should aid our own local rich cuisine.

Starbucks coffee is not good, especially when comparing to likes of Costa, Gloria Jeans etc.

It's not a big deal or small one for that matter.

When a foreigner comes to a country he is more interested in local culture and food. And no sane person will pass an oppurtunity to eat our food rather than Star bucks.

There are alot of western fast food chains that are available here but not in India
